Thanks Jerry, most helpful. We had a basic idea of how it worked, but looking at the actual diagram made it alot clearer.

Thanks again.

Rugger won't engage 4 wheel drive

Was working fine last time disengaged. Now won't engage H4 (electronic) or L4. Light doesn't even come on on the dash. Understand there is a vacuum line from the back of the alternator to the transfer case but that is where my knowledge ends. Any ideas on how to troubleshoot or solutions? Cheers

Most insurance polisies won't cover you when you're offroading anyhow. Check your policy or ring them if you don't belive me.

Off topic question - how does he find those tyres? We have essentially the same vehicle - same motor, and run BF Goodrich Wrangler MT's which have the same tread pattern as those, but 32x11.5" and find the vehicle is underpowered to clear them, the steering doesn't like the weight and they hit the ...

What winch to buy?

We have a Daihatsu Rugger set up for 4x4 but no winch.

Would like some advice as to what winch to buy that will do the job bearing in mind we are fairly budget conscious.

DO NOT WANT TO WASTE MONEY ON JUNK.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Cheers

That's the sort of info I'm after. Any links to people who have done this so I don't have to figure it out as I go? I have very little experience working on 4x4's (but am about to get some it seems) as all my previous spanner-slinging experience has been on sports cars. Which axles work? Are there ...

wanted: daihatsu rugger/rock/blizzard front diff/axle

or will even take whole rolling body with complete drivetrain.

Have blown a front diff.

Must be reasonably priced and closer to the top of the country the better as I am in the far north.

I recently bought a Rugger and it is proving to be a good truck, however, I trashed the front diff a couple of weeks ago pushing it a bit too hard up some terraces. I havn't pulled the diff apart but I assume the spider gear has gone. Where can I find a replacement diff? Are there any more common ...
