I have a 96 nz new 2.8 lwb, what a great truck i have owned it 5 years maybe almost 6 and done about 50k in it. only had to do the usual stuff oil brake pads etc, until my trip at new years where we went to wanaka fully loaded with gear and it cracked the head i would say buy one even tho it cracked ...

Good diesel mech in chch 4m40 head replacement

Hey guys i've finally got the funds together to replace the head on the paj, now can anyone recommend a good mech to do this job for me?
anyone had good/ bad experiences?

damn thats what i was thinking is there anyway to check this? i read on the pocuk site that you can havea look by removing the thermostate cover and see if its bubbling away.

great way to start 2012

OH NO!!

ok so on the way back from wanaka the paj started over heating, ended up having to get towed back to chch

so its pressurizing the cooling system, as soon as we put water back in it, it blew it back out, oils not murky any ideas folks???

hey guys i need to find a good diesel mech as i want to get the paj checked over but more importanty get the fuel pump seals done i can't stand it any longer!! i don't want a cheap job just done right and by someone who is honest and experienced

anyone know of someone?

Wow its been a while since i posted on here but i thought i would give a bit of an update to this post. so i blocked off my egr valve with some stainless plate the whole job took around an hour (i wish i had done this years ago) butt most importantly is it made a very noticeable increase in power as ...

ok just to finish the story off i got some 6.5" component in the front doors had no speakers in there to start with so had to find some grills diamond dissmantlers hooked me up there for $10 bit of mdf and had to make a nice cut out in the pocket as the x overs were a bit bit to fit anywhere else ...

cheers jono i might take you up on that offer even someone else having a drive might be able to compare, might be time for a boost guage and see how much it runs and i have a programable boost controller which may be able to help get the boost on early and stronger something to look into anyway. but ...

ok so i went to drive the truck this morn because the alarm batt for the silvia is flat, so it just started voltage was about 22v seemed odd then it started and didn't shoot up to 26ish like it normally would so the alternator is stuffed who;s had this problem before and any ideas on what it is yes ...
