Coolant Additive to fix Cracked Heads/Blown Head Gaskets
Ok, so my 2LT has a cracked head, altho it is not using water. According to DSL, 3 cylinders are leaking into the coolant. And looking at the leakdown results, I'd say they are right. (31%, 33%,39%, 21%) Now, I'm not a big fan of additives, and I think that 95% of them are crap (and I'm in the auto ...

Staurday started making up an exhaust for the Surf out of the 2.5" pipes I had bent up during the week. Everything went wrong - The pipes were all just a bit out, so I hads to cut them and realign them, the MIG ran out of Argon, so had to switch to gas welding. Then the Acetylene ran out. Then ran ...

Will bolt in no worries. Step father did it to his (well, TD23 to TD27). Is yours column or floor shift? The column shift boxes are weaker than the floor shift, and the floor shift are weak as it is. Is yours 4WD? The 4wd Terrano/Navara Turbo boxes are beefier than the non turbo and are not to hard ...

2L-T prob has cracked head - What to do??
As above, I am now pretty sure head is cracked, is blowing bubbles back thru the rad which is normally a good sign (or bad, depending on how you look at it!) I have a budget of about $2k, and I can replace a head/engine myself, but am wondering what I should do. I know it's hard on the budget I have ...

I don't think the 2L-T has EGR does it?? Just don't jump to conclusions too quickly dude. I've seen engines stripped down to nuts and bolts and put back together and still smoke and all it was was a broken wire. Cover your basics first. Is it useing more fuel?? Is it using more oil?? Is ...

2L-T started smoking - unusual behaviour
Ok, so the surf was due an oil change, so I went and did it (3rd time since I've owned it, always with Valvoline diesel extra). Once it got warm, it started somking at idle and a HUGE cloud as soon as you touch the throttle when taking off from lights etc. It would stop as soon as hit 2nd gear, and ...

V6's respond really well to a set of headers (you'll need custom made). Gives about another 15hp (no shit!) abd dropped the fuel economy in mine to about 12l/100k average. However, I wrote mine off 2 months after doing it!!! They are prone to a head gasket leaking ever so slightly and eating away at ...

Insured, but not worth claiming by the time no claims bonus is lost. Didn't get full rego, otherwise would have been asking who wanted to come bash some crims... Now going to put in an alarm and remove the rod linking the barrel to the mechanism, so it won't do anything if they try to force the lock ...

Had my surf broken into today, while i was about 30m away having lunch. Saw it happen. Forced the passengers lock, grabbed my wife's backpack on the passengers floor, and did the bolt in an 88/89 brown Honda Integra, rego BB****. This was in Hagley park carpark, people walking around, and my wife ...

UPDATE - Bonnet scoop on now. http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a231/AvenirGT/scoop1.jpg Makes a BIG difference once moving above about 30k's. The whole demeanor of the truck on boost is different - smoother, not so ragged/gruff on boost, quieter(!). I'm amazed at the difference. Went for a drive to ...

Rust removal (dialup beware)
Not really a project as such, but last week had the rust cut out of the windscreen frame and A pillar in the surf. Had Gary Smith Panel do it for me, do good discounts for cash All that we could see from the oustside with the screen in was a small spot above the moulding, but as you can see, was ...
