gday, Im in taupo.
yeah i had a feeling the clusters would be different, but was hoping the input shaft gear ratio would be the same.

Wanted to swap Landcruiser 5speed petrol box for diesel box
I have a late 80s H55F 5 speed box with the coarse spline input shaft, including transfer case to suit the following engines: F, 2F, 3F, H, 2H, 12HT. Apparently out of a 70 series. I need a gearbox from a mid-late 80's onward 70 series with a 3B, 13BT or 1HZ motor. The only difference is the spline ...

Re: Supercharged Mu 4JB1 Diesel
just occured to me, make sure your engine doesnt have a shut off butterfly in the inlet manifold (some diesles like a 12HT cruiser motor have them) they are a method of shutting off the engine when you turn off the key, some diesles must shut off the fuel instead.

Wow that diff swap is very interesting, Did you break the old diff?
what was required to fit the diff?
did the axle shafts need modification? did you have to cut off the old diff bolt flange and weld a new one on?
Cheers, Matt

Re: Supercharged Mu 4JB1 Diesel
those superchargers are positive displacement meaning on a diesel (which doesnt have a thottle) it should force in the same mass of air each rev regardless of rpm and accelerator. this means roughly same boost pressure (but doesnt take into account how the Volumetric efficiency changes with revs ...

35 x 11.5 x 16 Silverstone xtreme MT117X @ 35psi on 8 inch rim: 880mm=34.65" has anyone noticed how tyres 'grow' from when they are new? when I first put them on rims they had no bulge in the sidewalls and looked smaller than I was hoping. Re: cruiser drum brakes-spontaneously overtighten themselves!
I know in my surf the easy way to tighten them is to put the handbrake on and reverse. The handbrake will self adjust the back brakes each time you pull it on. I didnt realise they self adjusted, so I did some research: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drum_brake That is a very clever system! you guys ...

cruiser drum brakes-spontaneously overtighten themselves!

spring packs maybe pull the springs out and strip them and apply a coat of never sieze or a bit of grease inbetween the leaves then reassemble and try it again I cant beleive it! Re: Boggling banging noise coming from front susp
very good ideas, leaf bracket nuts were a bit loose so I grunted them all up but no joy they dont seem to be moving either and the bang doesnt seem to be coming from them. Ideally Id take them to bits and oil them but the threads on the bottom of the Ubolts are all buggered and it would mean ...

Boggling banging noise coming from front susp
Im having quite a headache figuring out what is wrong on my 70 series. when turning the wheels on the road it frequently makes a loud and high pitched bang noise. usually when I start hearing clunk noises from front it is a tierod end and you can visually see the culprit rod end suddenly move if you ...

I painted my underside of the body with Corrolis EP epoxy primer. It is a marine structure/ship paint. I used wet and dry sandpaper first and then thoroughly washed and degreased before painting. Re: running tyres at low pressure without beadlocks
If you have tubes and pop a bead what pressure do you have to pump the tyre up to to re-seat it? can you do it with a typical 12 volt compressor? I found dropping pressure from 40 psi to 25 makes a big difference on my old simexes. at 40 psi it mostly spins on the centre lugs but at 25 it pushes the ...

Yeah I read your old post about fixall Wopass, sounds like a good plan have you ever had to remove a tyre? Im kinda hoping rubber is stronger than the fixall bond cos it would be a nasty surprise getting a flat and then shredding a tyre trying to get it off the rim. As for power Sadam, got no ...

running tyres at low pressure without beadlocks
I've just bought some new tyres and will be sticking them on my rims soon. Was just looking over some old posts for ideas to help stop the tires spinning on the rims and popping off the bead. I saw using Urethane and grit paint as a couple options. Anyone have any updates / further thoughts to add ...

Hi Darren, I also had a mission trying to figure out how to run headers. thought I should update for others' benefit,
ended up going with Ferodo Excell pads as they were the best I could get in a short time.
I can highly reccomend them to Cruiser owners, can now lock up the wheels in dry. cost about $70 I think

You can get greaseable shackle and pins from Repco. Use Rear shackles for the front too cos they are slightly longer and much stronger.

when this used to happen to my suzuki I would start the engine and then squirt the hose through the alternator. the brushes get mud on them and get stuck and stop contacting. sometimes would need to open the back and prise the brushes a little. happened with rover alternator as well.
