I have an 80 diesel, 1HD-T with 180,000kms and no big-end problems. Its a 1994 and I change oil and filter every 5,000 kms. Just one curious question, I have replaced front axle seals like every six months. Why is this happening? Any body has an idea how to set the axle seals? Mine is a full-time ...

Just an update.

I now have the torque rod adjusted and am getting 8degress caster angle with the truck sitting idle.

It now has very little brake steer and so far so good.

Should I add more?

You are right. The truck has been garaged the past 6 months, and I just brought it out this month.

I removed the body lift, installed 35's and I now use it daily. It will see a lot of mud when the rainy season comes. Hehehe

Yes, the RD-28 diesel couldnt keep its cool at any speed with the A/C on, using the Toyota L 2.2Diesel's radiator. I couldnt change to a bigger radiator as the straight-6 diesel is a tight fit in the engine compartment. I had to move my firewall 4 inches back and couldnt do anymore as I didnt want ...

Here are some pics of the 1990 Hilux's underside

I have tried adjusting the torque rod by making it longer, and somehow the brake-steer has decreased a bit. I will try to make it a bit longer, and I will see what happens.

The blue truck just got a make over for a few car shows, but its now back to its daily duties.

I will post some more pictures later.

Paul from the Philippines

Hi there! I am Paul, 33 years old, and am from the Philippines. I grow sugarcane for a living and stay in the farm. I have the motorpool at my disposal and a lot of time as well. Here are my 4x4's and their pictures: 1983 Hilux with Nissan RD-28 6 cylinder diesel, twin radiators (the other one is ...

Thanks Steve. I dont have much experience with the torque rod as I completely eliminated that on my 1983 Hilux, as I installed a Pajero IFS steering box and did a cross over. My 83 has a Nissan RD28 diesel engine mated to the 4-speed Toy tranny/t-case, and runs on 33's. As to this truck, I set it up ...

Sir Steve, I have been reading your posts and since I noticed you are a Toyota Hilux guru, I need your help. I recently re-did My Left Hand Drive 1990 LN-106 Hilux. It has a 5-inch Skyjacker lift, Downey shackles, factory rear locker, detroit truetrach front LSD, and 5.29 gears. I run 35 Cooper ...
