Thanks for all the replies they have been great, Ill probably go for a diesal as they seem to be the better engine aparantly for going through water. Now all i have to do is start saving :roll:

How good are Landcruisers?

Im having a look round for a 4WD and was wondering how well the 1985-89 style landcruisers perform on and of road, and also what sort of things are known to go rong with them and what to look out for when buying.
Any help would be great

Thanks for that Mike, its not full time 4WD does that make any diference? So when you say the centre diff is locked does that make all 4 wheels drive at the same time and when thats not on they drive sepretly?

What does this all mean?

I have a 1993 Mitsubishi Pajero SWB and was wondering what all the different letters are on the gear stick at the top it has 4LLc than 4HLc than 4H and 2H as you can tell i no nothing about 4WDs :oops:

I was thinking that i could buy a Lancruiser or Land rover with no rego and wof or 1 with rego on hold which would be better and tow it to off road trips is this possible or do clubs like the trucks to have wof ect. Also would this be much cheaper as far as buying the vehicle or not much?

Yeah i quite like the look of the old series 3 swb landrover but the only problem is i only have about 1500 to spend do u recon i could pick 1 up for that price?

Thanks for that. Yeah i think ill have to join the Mid-Canterbury 4wd club is any one on here a member? I want a vehicle that is a good all round vehicle one that can handle the realy ruff stuff and also be a good touring vehicle so i was thinking a landcruiser fj40 as they are short wheel base and ...
