Thanks for the info.
There is a horrible bearing noise, it has a bit of a leak from somewhere. could rebuild it maybe but until I saw it in pieces I couldn't be sure if my skill level would be up to it.
Anyone know a good mechanic for these in the christchurch area?

Often its a fault in the trim switch on the motor or the switch in the remote box. Theyv got red blue and green down one side of the powerhead these are the wires for the trim. if you trace them to the switch on the cowling and the other into the loom plug then connect it back up, wait for it to do ...

Yea you can get heat shrink joiners with resin in them that seal water tight. we use them on boat trailers.
