A brand new Rugged Ridge product is probably quite reasonable at the current exchange rates.

Re: Adj control arms top and bottom?
You don't necessarily need adjustable upper arms but you can do with stronger ones. The standard upper arm can collapse and cause a lot of damage to the driveshaft and transfer case when they break.

Re: TJ Build
There is a catch under the seat to release the backrest untill you can replace the cable. The cable is over $80 from NZ dealers. You could try and make something using bicycle gear changing cable.

I think you will find a double carden jiont in your driveshaft, Howie uses the front driveshaft from a Hilux to get the CV jiont.

I thought the case people are trying to protect themselves from was one about a hunter whose fire started a forest fire and he had to cover the costs of putting out the fire. Maybe try a search around the NZ Deerstalkers website.

Re: Wrangler - what to look for
I just got a email about Yukon Spin free kits which are avaialable in the original stud pattern.
http://www.ringpinion.com/ProductDetail ... r_and_Axle
You would have to be keen, they cost $1421 US, even with 2 new wheel bearings that's a lot of cash.

Re: Wrangler - what to look for
TJs don't have any free wheeling hubs from the factory, they are connected all the time.
There is a kit to put FWH on but it needs a different type of wheel bearing and a change of stud pattern.

There is a self check for the instrument panel. Hold the speedo reset button in and turn on the key, each instrument should move through its full range in turn. That will tell you if the speedo is working.

I ran 32 in tyres on my TJ with a 2 in lift. Offset rims and adjusted bumpstops will help stop the tyres bottoming out into your flares. The wheel nuts have a sheet metal cover over them to cover the end of the thread, hopefully you have just spun that around. See if you can chisel it off and then should still be a nut underneath.

There is a relay in the fusebox under the bonnet for the fuel injection that can fail as well. There is an identical relay for the horn and if the horn works swap the relays and see if it starts.
