thanks furgus, that looks hardcore, can't wait to get back there. after looking at google earth looks like we only got 1-1.5 kms past the fork where the ,loop meets up.

so a whole day to get round the loop? any other advice you can offer to make it around? cheers.

i think the grapevine/stadia tracks are in that area, off the kopu/hikuai rd somewhere, permission maybe required for some parts though.
i'm sure someone more knowledgeable than me on here will post and let you know the details.

thanks monstr, is the loop track the one that heads up the hill on the right via a big water filled rutted hole about 1-2 hrs into the south heading track? we have also taken the north heading track which was quite good, but it comes to a locked gate at one of the cockys farms after about an hour or ...

Taieri Rd, Waitawheta

Just wondering how many people have been up here, and how far in you have got/how far can you go?
We've done it a couple of times now, and starting from the 'small car park thing' gone in prob 3-4kms on the main south-heading track, had to turn around due to lack of time.

we were just following the tracks in the books, but i see they are 9-10 years old now, might be out of date with regards to land access. we didn't encounter any signs or locked gates though, but yeah, maybe not a good idea if it is private property. point taken monstr. can you reccomend a club to ...

where to go an auckland

hi there, a few of us just got into a bit of 4wd'ing lately, we have 2 '89 suzuki vitaras, one with a 2" lift, both with decent tyres, basic recovery gear (hand winches, strops, shovels etc..) and a bit of common sense. we have been spending a bit of time in riverhead forest lately, but seem to be ...
