Re: Trailer shocks

If the shocks are too long, then mount them on a slight angle. They will still work.

Re: Winch bar mounting

I think the M12 bolts will be OK. I would suggest using quite big Washers so that the bolts don't pull though the MDF. Don't forget to paint well so that the steel surefast screws don't rust. :D

Re: Front Bar and recovery hooks

I failed to think of that option. When I worked on mine, it was near impossible to get to the inside of the chassis rails so I had to go right through.

Re: Front Bar and recovery hooks

I know this is a little while down the track, but...... nobody mentioned anything about using crush tubes in the holes drilled through the chassis. If they are not used there is the liklihood of the chassis compressing and then the bolts will have movement and the possiblity of damage under stress ...

Just a thought

Does your radio have a TX (transmit) power setting. I have a handheld Uniden which has selectable 0.5W, 2W & 5W setting. Your base set may have the same settings. This would shorten your transmission distance if it is on low power.

Yes BUT.......

You will possibly need to use a 2 pole relay to alternate the power to the different solenoids when operating the switch which is probably only single pole. I presume that one is on when the diff is open and one is on when the diff is locked.

Try this

Carwells Racing supplies in Christchurch have them. 0800 CARDWELLS. They are called a Heated knife. Tyres cut with them are no longer classed as road legal.
Also, siping is only putting small cuts throught the treads, unlike grooving which removes the rubber.

I don't know if anyone else has noticed, but the time posted beside each post is a day behind. I was looking at the times earlier and thought noone had posted anything today.

I am running standard suspension with 32x11.5x15 Cooper STT's on 15x8 rims and they have never hit anything even on full articulation. I hope to be able to gain a little more mid ground clearance as my running boards are toast. These are coming off as soon as I can get time to make some decent side ...

94 SWB Pajero lift

I have seen a couple of other forums reagrding the idea of putting some LWB rear coils into the SWB to get a lift. Is this due to the weight differences of the wagons? or are they longer? or fatter? Ihave won an auction for a pair of LWB coils but the owner feels that they won't give a lift. I don ...

Maybe

I had thought about that, but I don't think I have the clearance for the 33's due to the 12.5 width. Mine are only 11.5

Howdi from Gizzy

Decided to finally join so I could get the most out of the vast experience available on here. Sort of new to 4WDing, done a few safaris of the last year, but there is never enough of them close by. Done a couple of rugged runs in Minginui and Pureoras with a friend from Taupo. Put some scars on the ...
