FJ40 - need advice

A few weeks ago I bought myself a very tidy 1982 fj40. Everything is original, has very minor rust and all in all is pretty dam tidy. It still has the original cross ply SAT style tyres and i think that some 33s would be a good choice. I went and spoke to someone at 4wd accessoires in Montreal st ...

Hilux open diff wanted, 4.3 lsd for sale/swap

Over new years i replaced a stuffed open diff with a 4.3 lsd that i bought from a wrecker, came off a ln106 or something i think. Anyway my gutless 2.4diesel struggles on the open road to get to 100km/h with it on (i've got small tyres too) when it used to cruise ok, so i'm looking for an open diff ...

Big tree stump sort of warped my rear bumper so i took it off, and since then have been watching trademe to get some sort of bar work for the back to replace it, but nothing ever seems to be there. Anyone know of any forsale in the chch area or the best place to look?

Just got some ball joint spacers put into my surf and yup they're legal with a cert. If you have to cut or modify the A arm in anyway then defiantly talk to the cert guy first, mine wanted to take pics before and after and wanted a letter from the engineer that did the work!

RD28 into a hilux

I saw on trademe a hilux that had a rd28 nissan deisel engine. I was just wondering if anyone on here has done that or know anyone that has done that conversion and would be able to shed some light on how it goes/how its done? I may be keen to replace the tired 2L in my surf with one.

1980s Hilux surf canopy

I've just bought a new canopy for my surf with the intention of doing some chopping to make a sun roof in it, but i'm unsure of the best tool to attack it with.

Would a jig saw be able to cut its way through or will the angle grinder have to make an appearance?

Surf diff leaking

I've got an 87 surf thats leaking oil from the rear diff, and actually splattering oil all over the place around the area of the diff (ie petrol tank, spare wheel, axle housing, body floor). Guessing that it is a loose pinion bearing (as there is also considerable noise from diff when under load ...

Novice needs help with snorkel in chch

Gday im buying a snorkel for my 2.4diesel surf, but i don't have the skills or tools to fit it. I have no metal work experience (or any other for that matter) and don't like the idea of attacking the body of my car myself. If anyone in CHCH would be able to recommend someone who can do it for me for ...

Earlier this year i bought an 88 surf with a 3y. Was reliable, a bit gutless but good solid engine, used no oil, coolent etc. Only problem it went through a lot of petrol in proportion to its size, $90 to fill (using 96) and would only go about 350km. I've since sold it and bought a surf with a 2 ...
