Re: Smokey Start up everyday!

How do I check nozzles and plungers? is that injectors? I looked up my haynes manual on how to check the glows, so I can give that a go But as gary says it might be a mitzi thing, I was planning on videoing it with my cam and throwing it up on Youtube. It happens when the engine gets stone cold, so ...

Smokey Start up everyday!

Hi All Ah the reliable Pajero strikes again I thought I would ask some basic stuff and see if anyone has come across this. Coming into winter and colder temperatures i noticed each and everyday when I start my (2.8TD 4M40T) SWB 94 Paj I billow clouds of dark smoke everywhere! If i wait 8-10 seconds ...

One Bright Rear Tail light? Easy Fix?

Hi All I imagine a fairly easy question for your experienced boffons to answer. When I turn my lights on at night, my left rear brake light stays lit up as if I am braking regardless of whether I am or not. Its only the top part of the light that does this, as it is the separate two part Pajero tail ...

Re: Dont buy A diesel that starts with "M"

I dunno I found my 4M40T to be quite good, it certainly gives my friends comparitive diesels a run for their money. Against a MU, a 3.1 Bighorn and a Terrano, it does better for power and torque and highway performance. The diesel pump DID c0ck out but now its done and IU should be up for a good ...

Re: bad starting and stalling

From my limited knowledge of the subject I have a 2.8 TD 4M40T but the theory is the same. I had random stalling, very difficult starting without having the pump the accerator thru the floor! Worst thing is it was getting much much worse week by week. And as you say the idling was bad, had to keep ...

The cold 2.8TD issues continue...

Finally took my 2.8TD SWB in to get the cold starting looked at. Essentially it starts fine, the flow plug light goes on, you hear the "click" of the relay and she starts. However on cold mornings or at night, it will often sudder quite heavily, so ill apply a little throttle to keep her from being ...

Most I have talked too find the diesels take a bit longer to warm up. I think its just the nature of the beast. Ive been told if its not the glow plugs themselves, it could be the glow plug circuit powering the array. I still have an issue with mine dying randomly when cold, however Im confident if ...

Alright so treating some rust spots?

Hi All Spending probably a little bit too much time cleaning up my truck and making it my own at the moment, but anyway have a question. I have some (say 8ish) stone chip marks that have a little surface rust in them. I can scratch the rust out with a finger nail or a small knife and i have a touch ...

I dunno apparently the size of the engines mean they are quite a big heat sink, so take a few moments to heat especially if you are relying on other cylinders to the heat up a forth... with a naff plug. Trucks starts very well in normal weather and even in cold, just shudders for a short duration ...

What is happening is it is starting on 3 cylinders untill the heat builds up in the head from the ones around it working right. Far less of an issue in warmer weather. That actually makes alot of sense. Whats the best way to test?, using one of the truck batteries and some leads or something lower ...

Shudder on Cold Start 2.8 TD 4M40T

Hi All just procured myself a 94 SWB Pajero, so just new to this forum. Anyway I noticed my Pajero has a really noticable "shudder" when I start it on cold nights or mornings. The previous owner notified me of this, he would just idle for a minute or so before continuing. I noticed the ext temp is ...

Just looking at trucks lately... seeing whats what and a big question come up. Do I buy an automatic or a manual.
