Re: ID these Steering parts

You used to be able to buy 70 series tie rods with ends attached from Toyota for $45+GST. You may be better off upgrading to these & adapting what you have to fit these? The relay rod was $45+GST as well. This would give you beefier rod & ends. Search the forum for the part numbers, there here ...

Re: ID this Tie Rod end

Anyone able to identify this tie rod. Fairly sure its Toyota as the vehicle has 40 series running gear. BNT nearly got it right, but the bit I need in 14mm was 12mm. They soon gave up after that since they weren't dealing with the "original vehicle" http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k248/lilpigzuk ...

Re: FJ40 roll cage, power steering, and disc brake front end

Thanks Was thinking of soaking them in something to free things up a bit, then have a go at them over the w/end. Is there a tool around that fits into the piston, then spreads out to clamp onto the inside so you can get some leverage to get them out as the pistons are fairly much all the way in ...

Re: FJ40 roll cage, power steering, and disc brake front end

So, for those in the know... if I just buy new discs how do you get the studs out without damaging them. When I had the hub apart the other day I undid the two retaining bolts and tried hammering out one of the studs but I could tell it was just going to damage the stud. Do you: - heat things up ...

it sounds like you have the older style transfer case which means you'll have to sort out the handbrake unless the hf55 has a transmission brake on the end of it. (some split transfercases had a transmission brake)
