Asbestos
One of those situations, when you're ripping stuff to bits and suddenly you get that sinking feeling that the thought that just popped into your head would have been really good to have had before you started... Anyhow, here's the thing: there's no asbestos in automotive roof-lining insulation is ...

Re: Rollcage/ Cert question
Hey thanks guys. Skid, I hear you! if you are going to a certain certifier in your area and he has told you not to do it, and he will be the one certifying your vehicle, then it makes sense to listen to him. so I would do as he says, unless you are taking it somewhere else, then I would ask that guy ...

Rollcage/ Cert question
Been advised that if I put in a cage (front 1/2 exo), the longitudinal rear braces from the main hoop to the floor will mean it won't certify with the rear seat in place (please assume that main hoop isn't a problem in itself, and that the diagonal crossbrace would be removable). This is going into ...

Hmmm. Ok, I'm interested in this. Between me and a couple of mates there might be an application here that needs attending too... :bom: Are you guys referring to Falcon ute springs, or s/wagon etc. Are these the longest leaves in captivity or just fairly long but easy to get hold of..? Has anyone ...

what sort of truck is it going onto...would pto work? ... Yeah. What sort of truck, and do you thrash your gear -- properly? I went for a PTO winch for my cruiser, but, aside from the fact that not all trucks have PTOs, the weight of the setup would chernobyl a little Suzuki, which are really just ...

Front is much the same - just have to remove the free-wheel hubs first, and then have to turn the C/V to the right angle with the flat on top so it will come out of the swivel hub. Ah, yep, after the brake caliper, rotor, and spindle are removed -- or did I do it the hard way... I congratulate you ...

I like the idea in principal, but once your coilovers have fully extended you have nothing to 'push' the diff down any more, so it may not help keep your wheel on the ground enough to give traction . Similar in principal to a buggy leaf or 3/4 ellipticall set up used on rear leaf set up. though the ...

Aye, it sounds like you're well sorted and back to stuffing your haggis but for future reference... we've got a wholesale place locally that does conveyor belts, rubber sheeting etc., including heaps of different rubber extrusions -- surely there'd have to be a similar outlet down there somewhere ...

Aircon stuff someone might find useful
Jeez I love doing standby. I noticed an old thread on aircon regassing and thought I'd add some stuff on it here. I'm not a car aircon specialist by any means but I'm in the frige trade and might be able to save someone some $$$ 1) If you want your aircon gas charge to last, USE IT - regularly ...

Has anyone done a supercharger install on V6 Commodore?
It's not a lie. If you pressurise your engine it can go underwater. Has anyone worked out a good, reliable, way to supercharge a 3.8L? What supercharger, manifolding etc. How does the drive gearing / volumetric capacity of the blower affect power delivery. How much boost is safe without engine mods ...

Glutten for punishment that I am, I might just have to pursue this whether or not pulling onto the top works out. There are some things that just need to be known. Thanks for your comments. It's all good. If only nuclear power station designers thought this much about their little design problems. Anyone else use Lucas Heavy Duty oil stabiliser? (Or any of the other oil additives?) I run it in both diffs (and both are LSD, so it's a bit of an experiment), transfer case, gearbox, and engine. Re: Running Toyota PTO Winch backwards
By the way, there IS a dangerously thoughtful reason for this tomfoolery. And the reason is ?? ... The reason is "a friend of mine... " has dicked around with the laws of physics and stuck his winch a 'bit higher than normal'. This increases torque loads etc. and the thought is that if it all turns ...
