Re: What shock for 1991 SWB Pajero?
Thanks for the feedback.
I will probably go with secondhand ones, I phoned Repco today and they quoted me $279 for a pair, which is probably not bad if you have the money

What shock for 1991 SWB Pajero?
My Pajero failed it's WOF yesterday due to a leaking RR shock.
I am watching a few Trademe auctions, but not sure as to which one is the correct one:
http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motor ... 386503.htm
http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motor ... 291295.htm
http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motor ... 569120.htm
How do I know which one to get without taking the old one off?
My Pajero has the button which lifts the suspension a few inches at low speeds.

Have a read here:

I used it when troubleshooting my flashing lights. Mine turned out to be my solenoids.

Re: What 4wd to get?
That's not bad at all.
I have decided to keep my Pajero after all, I think I will miss it too much.
I am going to give it a good service over the weekend and see if that improves things a bit.
Thank you to all who replied.

Re: What 4wd to get?
You're lucky, I got around 5 km on a litre with my LWB, mind you the O2 sensor failed. I thought the SWB would be better, but seeing as it is only 200kg lighter it is not much better. Having said that, I do love the spaciousness and comfort, but I cannot enjoy it because I cannot afford to drive it ...

Re: What 4wd to get?
i don't think a service will really make a big difference, it is a heavyweight vehicle. I have tried lightfooting it, but it doesn't make a huge difference.

Re: What 4wd to get?
Cheers for that Heath.
I will prefer the petrol at this stage, simply because I know petrol vehicles and the services are not so dear.
Are there any differences between the 1.6, 2.0 and 2.5?

Re: What 4wd to get?
Are they comfortable for long trips? We bought the Pajero to go to the beach and do long trips, due to it being very comfortable, but we never got to use it for long trips as it was too bloody dear to fill up. We are not tall people, I am around 1.72m and my wife even shorter. How good is the fuel ...

Re: What 4wd to get?
Cheers for that Pouw.
From the Trademe listings, I can see the Pajero IO is 1800cc, and apparently they have low range and centre diff locks, but I cannot confirm this.
The Pajero Junior is the 1100cc one, and only available in 3 door.

Re: What 4wd to get?
I am actually watching a few Escudos and Vitaras, as well as a few Pajero IO (1800cc) Can anyone comment on their off road capability? We don't really use our Pajero in proper off road conditions, but drive on the beach (loose sand) every now and then. Do the Suzukis and Pajero IO have centre diff ...

Re: What 4wd to get?
Thank you for the last two comments. Although I am not a mechanic, I have done some fixes to my Pajero and know the Pick-a-Part yards quite well! Having said that, the repairs have been minor and the Pajero has been thirsty, but reliable. Seeing as my wife will be driving it, I need something ...

Re: What 4wd to get?
Thanks for all the replies, all opinions are welcome and valued. I am still reluctant to get a diesel. Re: What 4wd to get?
I would prefer not to get a diesel. After the RUC, and more frequent services, I am not convinced they are cheaper to run compared to petrol cars. And the difference in fuel economy is not that good. Unless anyone can convince me otherwise. I am watching an LPG Pajero, does anyone have experience ...

Re: What 4wd to get?
I probably don't want to spend more than $6000, and will tow a trailer from time to time. Probably 80-90 % of the travel will be done on normal roads. But I do want to be able to drive on Karioitahi Beach without getting stuck. I am happy with little or no mods. We love the Pajero, especially on the ...

What 4wd to get?
I currently have a SWB Pajero, which I am more than happy with, apart from the fact that it is not the most economical, especially since my wife is using it as a daily driver. I am looking to replace it with another 4wd, with the following requirements: 5 or more seats 4 or more doors proper 4wd, or ...
