Re: SJ 413 Diff head
Second hand diffs for suzukis are a waste of time & money in my opinion. They aren't overy long lasting, so it's likely any second hand one you get will be on it's last legs. I went through 2 second hand ones in the space of a year before just rebuilding one. They both felt good when put in, pattern ...

Quick question -- Samurai Axle housing
Hey -- Could someone with a samurai rear axle housing hanging about tell me what the centre to centre distance between the spring plates is? I'm about to weld up my rear axle housing (whole lot of mods...) and I've lost my notes I took when I chopped it up... Centre to centre on my front leaf spring ...

Re: Winches and alternators?
If you stand by what you have just stated, then according to your statement above, you would need to fit a 600amp alternator to winch for longer than 10 seconds. The alternator has absolutely nothing to do with winch performance during a pull and everything to do with battery recovery time between ...

Re: Winches and alternators?
The problem is that your winch will pull in the order of 600 amps or more. Adding batteries helps for very short pulls, but even with two decent batteries you're talking a matter of tens of seconds 'til your alternator is the main limiting factor. I had a good run with my 110A falcon alternator ...

Re: Supercharger GSXR set up
There will be no boom so long as you control your fuel and timing properly. Modest increases in horsepower (say 50-75%) are not going to cause engine internals much worry at all if you are not detonating, pre-igniting or getting ridiculous combustion temperatures. This is the main reason why I'd ...

I need an axle housing off a hilux -- any will do. I'm just after the flanges that bolt to the wheel bearing housings, so a bent or otherwise damaged housing would be perfect....

Well we didn't end up getting to the chasm track this time, we ended up having plenty of fun nearer our camp site (slab hut creek). FYI: When I tried to contact Ken on the phone number on the previous posts I found it was no longer his number. Luckily the guy I talked to knew the number I was ...

i hope you are joking?? I wasn't meaning that they were nicely done, just that they still looked like a jimny as opposed to a jimny with a 410/413 body as the previous poster was talking about. I can't say I've ever had a close up look at one. Trepadors are the cheapest... by lots.... this is the ...

Re: Brand new Sami's now available (kind of)
The Jimny utes that Hollands have done look like they are a factory jimny flatdeck though... they don't look at all like a quick conversion has been done. I'd say the trepadors are a good choice -- I have a set of the 31"s on my samurai and they go very well in both boggy stuff and wet grass etc.

If it hasn't been driven with play in the pinion shaft, the gear set is probably OK. If you end up replacing it, I might be interested in buying it off you -- as you say, the samurai ones are mildly interesting to get your hands on, and I tend to be hard on them!

Re: Multi-V conversion on Samurai G13a
Got this conversion all finished and running. Ended up machining another groove in the inner pulley (the one that runs the alternator and water pump) so it is now 4 groove instead of the 3 groove that was original..... The 3 groove belt would have been touch and go with the 110A alternator. Luckily ...

Got a water pump and pulley this weekend. The water pump pulley from an 8 Valve vitara (found thanks to Falsgrave auto spares) works with the standard SJ413/samurai water pump, and aligns perfectly with the barina crank pulley (the inner one). I've got an alternator pulley off a nissan V8 that ...

That'd be great if you could compare them, cheers. I went into hollands suzuki yesterday, they had two different ones -- one was about 80mm from gasket face to hub face, the other 72mm. The 72mm had extra bits on the gasket face though and was missing a tapped hole, so may not be of much use.... The ...

In relation to my thread on converting my samurtai to multi-V (http://www.offroadexpress.co.nz/Forums/ ... 23&t=24268) I'd like to see some photos of the front of some vitara engines to get an idea of what water pump pulleys might work.
I'm looking for pics of both 8 and 16 valve engines.
Cheers.

Re: Multi-V conversion on Samurai G13a
Will do mate. At this stage I'm thinking I may need to get an extra groove machined in the pulley I got off UBZ. Currently it has one 3 rib and one four rib pulley. I'll need a four rib to run the supercharger (sc12) and the other one will run the alt, water pump, and power steering pump -- I think ...
