Am after a surf with coil rear end to rip apart and turn into a little offroad project, body will be getting cut up and ripped apart ect. yeah i knew it would be slower,and realized all the ratio differnceand wheels but didn't think it would be that bad
I got sick of fixing it so i swapped it for the cefiro i swapped for this surf, glad i got rid of it. aparently hes found rust everywhere

22r vs 4y
soo i have a 22r 1990 surf, and a 4y 1991 single cab 2wd ute. I jumped in the surf expecting a bit of power over the 4y but it struggles to get to 100kph, where the 4y doesnt even struggle to get to 140-160kph. what im asking is, are the 22r normaly this gutles? or is mine just overly slow..? Cheers...

friday ripped motor apart to find that the 2 rear cylenders were not working(the valveswere not lifting-snapped camshaft) Put this motor in about 7months ago,so i am not a happy chappy. i was told by the vtnz inspector here that the wheels need to be within a inch from the gaurd, and he passed mine on a wof without them, and mine stick out just over a inch, but i have ruber flares for them.

valley. On a side note check tightness of valley nuts, they become loose and suck in water down the back of head into the rear cylinder inlet port, left hand bank seams to suffer the most. Hope some of that helps. where are the valley nuts?. just got a mate to rev the truck wile i had my hand over ...

ill go with the mechanical oil pressure set.
the ticking noise is now ticking on idle... i tried to take a video on my phone and a voise recorder but did not work.. all you can hear is the engine .

cheers landy. it also seems to puff a light mist out the exhaust. i fought it was just over fueling.. the onlythings i used from the previouse engine are E'manifolds sump, coils, powersteer, pump, alti, etc etc. how do i do fuel pressure and flow tests?? and i haven't been on the site in donkeys yea...

i pulled all the injector plugs off and there all sweet. starts missing every time i pull a plug off.
I'm prity sure all leads are on right, and the spark plugs are relatively new.

ok my vr v6 surf is making popping noises wen idling and at higher(3000rpm'ish) makes a kind of pinging noise. its quite loud and sounds like a big exhaust leak, iv checked and havn't found one, it also happens wen under load at lower rpm, it was doing the same thing on the old vn engine that was in...

gimmemud said his truck does about 450ks to a 50l tank... considering my tank is bigger i should be doing the same if not more ks...maby i should get the surf looked at by a auto sparky or something...

i have the commy v6 in my surf. fare bit of power but its thirsty. 250ks to a 60l tank.. not sure if that's just because the conversion wasn't done properly, or because I'm led footed and run 33's.
could be a mix of things haha.

we fitted a pear into a ln130, was really quite hard to fit. lifted the rear about two inches over the limit of the standard shocks. so it will be a hell of alot more then whats needed to hold a few winches

yeah i found the wire. it was the override switch wire for the radiator fan. . .i dont have a hex/star key thing to take the cover off the computer. but a sparkys coming arround tonight to have a look at it. i hope he can fix it. i get my license back on tuesday!:(

gidday guys. yesterday afternoon a positive wire from under the dash/radio started earthing out and now the truck wont start. it turns over but there is no spark, i just replaced the coils aswel. i checked all the main fuses and they are all fine. I don't know what els it could be? any info/suggesti...
