Re: The 42nd Traverse

Drove through solo yesterday and track is in very good condition. It took me three hours from SH47 to Owhango and that included stopping for photos, to pick some blackberries and to give some hunters a ride back to their vehicle. I was just taking it easy and going slowly round corners in case of ...

42nd Traverse Recce - Thursday 27 March

I'm dropping some friends off to do the Tongariro Crossing on Thursday and then picking them up at the other end when they get out. While I wait for them to do the walk I thought I might go have a look at the 42nd Traverse with a view to getting all the way through if the conditions are suitable ...

Re: Thommos highway - 22 March 08

Well my friend, you will go and lend your Wrangler out for a month at a time wont you!!!! Will you have your wagon back before the 25th april? Presume you're talking about ANZAC Wknd and the event that's happening that weekend (which I have read about but can't currently find the post for at the ...

Re: The 42nd Traverse

I might be heading down this week to drop some friends off to do the Tongariro Crossing and then pick them up again at the other end once their done. Rather than waiting around all day I thought I might see if I can get through the 42nd Traverse. Not ideal to do it by one's self I know but it might ...

Re: Vegas training weekend

The only weekend I can make is the middle one as I'm at a wedding during the first one and in the UK during the last. Hope you guys have lots of fun though.

I don't want to spoil your trip, but some of those times look rather optimistic, or you are prepared to spend every daylight hour on the road with little time to stop & rest. ... Ian Hi Ian, I think you're right, the times are going to be optimistic. They are more like driving times rather than ...

Wakatipu

Also, I wanted to try and drive from Glenorchy through Greenstone Elfin Bay and Mt Nicholas Stations along the western shores of Lake Wakatipu to the Mavora Lakes but I wasn't able to get permission. It's a shame but it is their call after all.

You will need permission to drive the Napoleon/caves track as the farm has been sold and the gate is locked Yes, thanks for that. I've just talked to Robyn Smith to organise that, somehow I'd managed to miss the fact that I needed permission for this track off my list. Other than that I am pretty ...

22-29 Dec : Picton - Mavora Lakes - Picton

Hi, I've planned a trip on 22-24 Dec from Picton to Mavora, returning from Mavora to Picton on 27-29 Dec. Currently it's not too hardcore as there's only one vehicle (although a friend may be joining me for some of the return journey) and the trip is more about getting off the main highway and into ...

My vehicle

what sort of Cruiser do you have A Jeep Wrangler Sport. It needs some new tyres but I'm going to sort that out before Christmas hopefully (doing a big mission down to Mavora Lakes and back with as much time spent off the road as possible) and put some MT/R tyres on. The vehicles hasn't been ...

Also keen

I'm just new in the Waikato but would be keen for any sort of trip, be it instructional or otherwise. I'm away in late March/early April but other than that am pretty flexible with dates and times.
