Re: Turbo vs NA QD32 inlet manifold design.

i have my doubt that anyone has actually tested the difference the manifolds themselves make, outside of "seat of the pants". TD27 shares a lot of the head design from the TD42 which they have tested a huge amount. on those really short runners suit the port style a lot better than long ru...

Bit late with reply sorry. Autobend do a Rage exhaust option. i've had trouble with them before. they don't always make what they advertise. better off getting it custom built or even imported. sadly i've run into cases where guys here in nz have tried to buy exhausts from AU only to be told they a...

Re: how do people turn off and on a digital speedo

why not depends on where the off on swich is placed///////// or am I wrong/// if you turn off the speed sensors the ecu won't let the engine run. if you turn off the speedo itself the ecu still records the milage. with some vehicles if the brake lights are not working you can't start the engine as ...

Re: how do people turn off and on a digital speedo

most have speed as an input into ecu for a few different functions. hence if its doesn't get an input it can go into limp mode. auto gearbox needs speed input especially for the lock up clutch. newer ones need it for the airbags and traction control etc. also many vehicles now do not have a gearbox ...

Re: Hilux surf (vzn130) proportioning valve question

the rod looks about right. they are meant to be curved.
btw your surf looks like its lifted but no packer on the bracket. typically if you do a 2" lift, raise the mount the arm is on by 2". so it keeps the valve in the stock position.

as above. pre turbo is best otherwise your guessing at the temp drop caused by the turbo. make sure the probe tip is in the center of the actual flow, especially if using an egr port. i had 100c difference with a longer tip sensor that got into the flow. max temps depends a bit on engine. most facto...

Re: !997 Prado 1KZ-TE Starting Issues

i would check ecu. really common to get capacitor failures on those old vehicles. that tends to cause a few weird problems. i suspect it screws with the voltage required for the sensors. you should not get low voltage cutout at 12v. typically i think its around 10 or 11v. however worth checking to s...

unless you have the paper work to go with it, your towbar, at least should be, a wof fail.
hence why everything is bolted on theses days.

if it goes into 4x4 ok even tho you can't see the symbol on the screen, then it will be a display problem. possible just an issue with the screen itself.

either get another combo meter unit or take it to one of the instrument repair crowds.

Re: Egr on post 95 efi 3.1td

if you plug the hoses on the actuator side of the solenoid then no other system will be effected regardless of vehicle.
the only trap with 90's egr system is if they run an intake butterfly that restricts air flow as part of the egr system. you need to disable that if you have it.

if the filter gets clogged up up it will increase sump pressure and cause oil leaks. i had water in the catch can which gelled the oil, blocked the filter up and the turbo would leak oil out the exhaust. make sure you don't use a small hose and the catch can fittings are big enough. a lot of them co...

Thanks tweake. Can't say I thought of the one way valve but I'm not sure it's entirely a must??? feed back to intake is for emissions. Aussies can get done for disabling emissions and that includes the breather. keep in mind its not air going to the intake but exhaust gas ie egr. thats one thing that screws with emissions systems, you end up with excessive egr going in due to large amounts of b...

Re: Off road trailer build with patrol wheels...stub axles??

tandam or single axle? single axle. tandems simply do not have enough articulation to work properly in decent 4wd. also shock absorbers do not work well on tandems. you will need shocks absorbers on an offroad trailer. with hitches, i'm not sure. that will depend a fair bit on length between toll b...

don't bother trying to use a factory axle.
you can buy the hub, stub axle etc off the shelf. i think its 6x 5.5" pattern.
then you use standard trailer braking etc.

had a look at it years ago and spoke to a number who had them. performance wise (with a good one) they are slightly worse than a front mount air-air for on road use. tho better with slow speed 4wd use. with a diesel you still need a big radiator so you still have half your radiator blocked. small ra...

connector top center is rpm sensor. you will only get pulse readings from that. if that fails ecu should flag an error code. spill valve won't get voltage all the time, only a pulse when it fires an injector. to rule out immobilizer i would check voltage going to ecu. that the most likely one they w...
