Re: Diff Head Clearance Heights

KZJ78 33"BFG (3/4 worn, 30psi) 260F, 255R.

Compared clearances on a KZJ71 Prado & a FJ70 a few years ago both on 31.5x15 (different brands, but same height):
Prado 230F, 230R,
FJ70 235F, 235R
But the spring pack made big difference ...

KZJ78 Prado handbrake shoes??

Warrant time. Looking to replace hand brake shoes. I know I need to pull caliper off to get the disc/drum off, but I can't see how I can torque caliper bolts back up with the rear shock so close the the bottom bolt (without removing shock). Perhaps I'm missing something. Can someone offer advice ...

saw you guys out there this afternoon. I was surprised when I saw who was driving (well how young) and impressed how he seemed to instinctively pull left when he came upon us as we were leaving (I had the kids out there playing with their new fishing rods - in the Prado).

Nice noise too

Re: KZJ78 prado Auto vs Manual

I have an auto as a club truck. First auto after FJ40 & FJ70 manuals. The auto is great for doddling along - very easy drive. Only thing with auto is descents - torque lockup is not controlled without mods, and low box is not low enough. Overdrive (leftfoot) breaking suffices, but can't beat direct ...

make sure you have heaps of detergent in the soapy water. Too little and small leaks don't bubble, as it tends to run off to quickly.

Not quite correct....specific gravity of LPG is around 0.535 for general mix (60/40), so you get about 2l/kg. Most 9kgs get around 18 litres per fill.

test the gauge by pulling off the wire at the sensor and touching it to an earth on the vehicle. Gauge should go full scale. If not, its poked. I once replaced a couple of sensors and thermostats only to find the gauge was mostly poked.
