Re: FS: Toyota 5MGEU twin cam 6
Hey mate, I have to say its being sold on an as is basis. This is for a couple reasons, I took it out to fit a 6m motor which is running great now, but I did switch the inlet manifolds over aswell as the sump. This was because my old 5m manifold was all ready set up for my lpg system, and my 6m mid ...

I am selling my 5m motor, disassembled at the moment. It is a mid sump version, and has a 6m inlet manifold. At the time of removal it was still working beautifully with only minor tappet noise, and a brand new cambelt about a month ago. These motors love to rev and spin your tyres free of that mud ...

Re: Urgent Help required in AK area, heat problems
Problem solved! A big thanks to Matt4U and especially coxy but also those who posted for helping me out. After an informative chat with Matt and a helpful visit from coxy it is sorted. The temperature gauge is reading now and my fans are working nicely. Still no oil pressure reading but i know i'm ...

Urgent Help required in AK area, heat problems
So I got the engine put in last week by a trusted mechanic in the mount, drove it up to Auckland last night and made it up without a single problem. I then went for a drive to locate a liquor shop and the radiator boiled over. I am parked up in newmarket at the moment at a friends house but need to ...

Re: 88 Surf + 6mgte, the ugly couple
Finally got it all sorted, i think. Next weekend the family mech is letting me use his space and helping me out with the swap. Going non turbo for now but still looking at it for the near future. Really don't know anything about this process so if anybody has anymore advice like scs then please feel ...

Thanks for that info mate, I'll be storing that post away for later.
Appearantly these engines are not the best at delivering oil when turboed, 7m pumps and pickups i guess.

Re: 88 Surf + 6mgte, the ugly couple
Thanks mate, yeah the charcoal filters go on the exhaust side of compressor, I went to the good fellas down at Ash Air and had them talk me through any recommendations. As long as I seperate the engine exhaust and compressor intake by a bit of distance I should be fine, the particle filter is to ...

Re: 88 Surf + 6mgte, the ugly couple
Thanks for your concern mate but its all thought out... I think. The motor is driving a oiless 2 cylinder Gast compressor with the belt drive (safe to breathe what it pumps out as long as its clean) The air cleaner is sitting on the intake pipe for the compressor. the compressor hooks up to two 40 ...

I just bought a 6m motor off japspares and have planned to turbo it with a 7m manfold and ct26 turbo. I already have a non turbo 5m which has been doing just fine powering the surf which will do til i rebuild the 6m. It shouldnt be too complex a swap seeing it should bolt right in as long as the ...

Re: Surf removable canopy replacement
I have had issues with the power window back there for awhile too. I found a relativley easy solution. As it was usually just a wiring problem I eliminated some of the relays to help pinpoint my problem when it arises next time. The canopy bolt relay and the door lock relay i bypassed. So now next ...

Hey I have a question regarding the bolt activated relay located on the passenger side under the 3rd bolt from the back hold on the fibreglass top.
