WTD - Hilux LSD Clutch/Friction discs

Anyone got any old ones laying around?

I'm just after 2 Clutch plates and 2 friction discs.

Cheers guys

Don't worry fellas, I was heading down the wrong path with that idea.

Re: Diff pinion nut and shims??

Good info, thanks I will probably end up just machining a spacer the right (or close to it) size. I'm reusing the old bearings and just want to get some preload on them because at the moment there is absolutely none. I've had to weld up and machine the flange shaft as the seal surface was completely ...

Diff pinion nut and shims??

Hey there.

Does any one know of a good source for new pinion nuts? Toyota wants $25 a piece. That seems a wee bit steep.

Also pinion bearing preload shims. I've got early 80's diffs with solid spacers, not crush sleeves. Toyotas listing for my model sit at around $30 just for one shim.

Cheers guys

Re: Supralux, A question about balls...

Now we're talking lads. Matt - I'm assuming it's a flipped arm setup? What ya got and how much are you after? Steve- Just to clarify: Internal taper on sleeve to accept TRE Ball joint. External taper to fit new taper in j arm?? I was trying to stay away from the tapered socket in the jarm. Tapered ...

Supralux, A question about balls...

Just wondering about the old ball joint flip with the tie rod end.
What method was used to machine the taper?
The J arm seems a bit awkward to chuck in the lathe so were tapered reamers used on a mill perhaps?

Cheers, any info would be sweet.

Rear hilux leaf springs in the front

I've now I've seen info on this on here somewhere...Just can't find it now that I need it. I'm after a quick rundown whats required to fit 'em up in the front. Hole relocation, things to look out for etc. The rear springs in my RN36 s/c hilux ute were far too stiff and limiting articulation big-time ...

Re: birfield not lining up...

I got it in but its the condition of the seal i"m concerned about. the axle was forced upwards so much I'm pretty certain its bent the pressed steel part of the seal and probably in the process pinched the rubber part. Time will tell I guess. The short side is easy though. Straight in, no hammer or ...

Re: birfield not lining up...

thanks, I'll look into the birf flats. I'll compare the one that goes into the short side easily with the long side one.
Tried the hammer....didn't really like it too much.

Re: birfield not lining up...

It was tight coming out, had to pry it. Real tight going back in though. The short side came out a lot easier and goes back in easier too. I'm gunna leave both sides out until I can figure out how to get the long one back in. Hopefully its not a bent axle housing. Was gunna pull the diff out and ...

Re: birfield not lining up...

Thought it was a bent axle to start with.. The original axle seal was in good condition. if something was bent I would have assumed that that seal would have been slogged out.

birfield not lining up...

I'm in the middle of doing my left steering nuckle. Got to the point where I'm refitting the axle and birfield joint into the housig but as I get the inner axle spline pushed in the flats on the birfield are way too low for it to go in. I tried sitting the bottom flat in place and levering up but ...
