Ok just to clarify im not planning on doing any welding. If I am to remove the crank and replace can I do it from the bottom or do I have to go in from the top? I downloaded a couple of online manuals and they didnt help at all with the removal of the crankshaft.

Can do swaps aswell for 60 series landcruiser bits (have one wrecking) or a dyna gearbox I pulled off ( heard they may be of use for some V8s or something)

Cool, just bought the engine, its out of a dyna. Apparently it is 12 volts so no worries there. Should I forget about wanting to use the 5 speed from it since its prob a dyna box/ might not mount up to my exisiting transfer case/ lengths and everything where the 13b should go straight in (sorta) and ...

Cheers for your help doesnt sound too much of a mission then. One last thing, the toyota dyna came out with landcruiser engines, did they come out with the same gearboxes aswell h55f's ? or are they completely different gearboxes?

Just got myself a whole bj60 for a parts car that has power steering disc brakes etc so sounds like ill be pulling the whole diffs and putting them under with the power steering. Thanks for your reply muddy, I think my truck has the gearbox hanging and the crossmember under the bell housing (is located just infront the joint between gearbox and bellhousing on bellhousing side). Im guessing that it is not strong enough to use standard x member under the bellhousing? Has ...

Hey guys just wondering whats involved with putting a 5 speed under a bj40? Has anyone done it? have heard that the h55f 5 speed will bolt straight up. Just wanting to know if any modifications are needed to x member mounts/ driveshaft and how hard it is. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

Hey yeah it is just under the main water intake pipe on engine (just under the bit where the themostat usually goes in). Should have one wire attached, I measured my sensor with a ohmmeter and it was infinite (which means its screwed) so replaced it today, cost me 25 bux. Took it for a quite drive ...

Hey I own a 1981 bj40, the temperature guage is not working and I was just wondering where the temperature measuring device is located on the engine ( its a B series diesel).
