Re: repair estimates for 1999 Hilux 3.0D double cab

replacing universals and seals is nothing unusual for a hilux. Something I've had to fix more than once or twice in the 6years I've owned mine. And to quote a mate ' with a hilux... if it can't be fixed with a hammer, its an electrical problem' Greasable Universals approx $65 for part. not hard to ...

Re: Which lasts longer Diesel or Petrol Surfs?

Where the Hilux's fall down I believe is their temperature guage, the factory temp guage is knobbled to have a large dead zone, the needle moves to the centre and stays there until you are in trouble! There is a thread somewhere on here that go's through the fix, this has caught me once. The rad ...

Blow by and Catch Cans for 3L Hilux

Hi out there, I need some constructive advise and suggestions in regards to my present blow by issues. I have a 3L engined Lux with CT20 fitted. I've just recently reconned the engine and fitted another second hand CT20 (which had supposedly been reconned 20000k's ago), including fitting brand new ...

Re: trouble removing crank pulley

Get a socket onto the crank nut, find a nice safe place to jamb it then flick the starter . Sounds dodgey but has worked every time for me. Just make sure the socket cant move and that you only flick the starter. Should be enough to shock it free I've done that before.. it works. Just make sure ...

Re: 2Lt Crankshaft

ok, don't like the idea of loosing performance. Was the whole idea of fitting turbo in the first place.. hated the snails and kids on trikes overtaking me. Cranks pretty flogged out, length of keyway and about 3mm( at a guess, don't have anything to measure the depth with), with a rip in the middle ...

2Lt Crankshaft

Can anyone tell me whether the 2lt crankshaft was made stronger than the 2l cause of having a turbo fitted, and whether it would be stronger than the 3l crankshaft. Looks like i may need to replace my crankshaft on my 3l cause of some damage done by a keyway and pulley 'giving way' and its been ...

Re: My diesel wont start?????

sounds like you have blown the fuse thatcontrols the fuel to the injector pump. Its the circuit that shuts off the engine when you turn the key off. Had this happen to my hilux recently. and to my nissan 3 months ago . So check your fuses Had the same problem myself when towing the mother in laws ...

I'm with AMI. Two friends with AMI have had no issues with pay outs after incidents. I was told as long as warrantable and in my case, certified and not in mud plugs or timed events, I am covered. They do like to know what modifications have been made and may look more closely if mechanical lockers ...

Yet Another Nelson Newbe

Hi, I'm new to the site so thought I would introduce myself. I've been playing around for a few years but still consider myself the new boy on the block. My Hilux is a 91 import, turboed and lifted on 31's, hoping for bigger, brighter and better things later (Lexus engine etc). Does the job and ...
