Depends on your rim width and tyre combo what offset suits. Is the truck on the road? need to keep the tyres in the guards?
From memory, the 15x8 -19 stuck the tyre just too far out the guard for a wof. Would suit the samurai I expect.

Re: SJ 413 new wheels
Yeah more room than I needed. Too much offset and larger tyres will hit the firewall even with 31's. 31's will sap more power than you expect too

Re: (Slow) '87 SJ413 Build
Samurai has wider diffs and springs mounted slightly outboard of the 413 and hand brake on the diff not on the drive shaft. Diff ratios like you have already stated. They might use the same front brake lines as I have had to extend samurai ones where 413's I didn't. Recently I have noticed early gea...

Re: SJ 413 new wheels
I ran cj jeep rims on mine for a bit. 15x8 though so a bit wide.
Do be careful as rims with the correct offset for a samurai can scrub the springs like you are worried about because the 413 diff is slightly narrower. You can set up steering limit bolts to fix it but you increase your turning radius.

Re: jimny power steer into sj413
I think the later model samurai shafts were collapsible where the 413 ones I have seen were just solid. I remember reading a build thread on modding a Samurai shaft a little allowing it to collapse down enough to fit then just being left as is. I have always ended up cutting and welding the 413 shaf...

Re: (Slow) '87 SJ413 Build
I've only changed rears when changed axles. Otherwise normally fine. Only do it if they are obviously worn would be my call. With the fronts I'd just be adjusting the wheel bearings. Only done full rekits a couple times due to wiper seal failure/swivel scoring and kingpin bearing failure.

Cheers for the ring gear install info. Did you chase up what a new one was worth?
Be good to know as all my spares have shot teeth.
Also out of interest, why not just swap an entire spare flywheel onto it?

I'm sure someone will have a second hand f/wheel but if needed I think the ring gear is replaceable. Heat it up to pop it off and heat a new one and drop it on. These guys might have em, no idea on what it costs but be interesting to hear how installing one goes. http://www.ringgear.co.nz/Our_Produc...

Before doing any of your planned mods read as much as you can. auszookers, zuwharrie, pirate forums have days of cool builds to cruise through. Your list of mods has a lot of gaps esp when looking to 33's, you have started to piece it together but you will find the answers in those threads or else q...

Be overkill if the batteries are right near the starter. I'd run 50mm to the winch though. Scale everything up as you move the batteries further from the motor.

Re: Suzuki Second Battery
Generally bigger is better. I just use welding cable because its more flexi. Mine is actually 70mm, just went and checked. If I was winching more or had a bigger starter I'd probably go bigger. Its because of the distance though. If your still mounting the batteries in the engine bay that big wouldn...

Search Falcon alternator upgrade for suzuki and you should find which alt's are a near direct fit. Often multi rib belt though so keep that in mind as you might have to find pulleys and also the waterpump can have the wrong reach. I had to fit a swift waterpump. I got an alt off an EL for one truck....

Those hubs seem to last. Just removing them can be a pain in the ass if they have those weird long tapered head screws. Unsure if theres a way to prevent them seizing but have had a couple hubs real hard to remove.

I have had a 3in efs spring and shock lift for 7-8years. Castor bushes done during install and they're still fine. I spaced by gearbox crossmember slightly although I think it wasn't necessary. Installed a rear brake hose in the front as they are longer. Adjustable panhards would be nice but diffs a...

I'd go owner bottle every time now. I had basically paid for a bottle renting for a couple years with a handful of fills or so. Not a whole lot dearer to fill and my recent bottle has over 9 years left on the test. Good if you're like me and might use 2 bottles worth in a couple weeks then sit idle ...

My old model h2o's in 10x25 have been awesome for most hunting and vehicle based stuff. Can't complain about low light performance when I've needed em but at longer range with poor light they'll likely fall over before a larger objective model. Mine are small because I might have to carry em for day...

Re: G13a sump onto 16v g16a
I imagine if those rails were fitted as an update to an older design they may help extend the lifespan of the motor. It looks like they might reduce cross block torque and cracking over time. I'm unsure if there are other differences. I would mod the sump, or cut the flange and fabricate a brand new...

Do you mean rails like this? http://www.rhinoman.org/SuzukiStuff/SJ/pu_fitted.jpg I've never seen them but I thought they were only on later g16b blocks. My motor didn't have them. Pretty sure the sump can still be hammer modded to fit around them. I remember grinding a little bit of the upright par...

Mine just needed a bit of hammering on the inside to clear the rear bearing cap. Need to mod the pick up also. Quite a bit less oil capacity in the 1300 sump though so I'm modding mine to allow more volume.

I've noticed some seem to settle more than others. I'm not a little guy and my samurai sits level on 2in efs lift springs. I have my battery rear mounted though. Looks like it might drop in the housing if you pull the axle and be a huge mongrel to install unless your able to remove the shift fork mech and hold the collar during axle install?...
