Re: Home made Jeep modifications

Im not sure if these count as they are more home made repairs than mod's. BTW I am spanner challanged and have a WJ 4.7HO Overland. Not a great combination I have a screw holding the heater blender doors open. So the heater only has two setting fckin hot and off. In summer I remove the screw so it ...

Excise duty: Who can get refunds and how

I came accross a NZ web site the other day advertising that they could get your petrol tax refunded, mainly for quads, petrol farm machinery etc but also for off-road vehicles. it got me thinking.... This may have been discussed some time ago on here but it's not something you hear much about. It's ...

Repco won't carry it. If you are getting a new viscous coupling, your best option would be to import it from US directly. Cheapest option even after freight. Or from Oz, I'm finding some parts are cheaper from OZ once you include freight. OZ is def cheaper than NZ, and quicker too. If in doubt ...

"Apparently" It just a worn "o" ring at the join but the utube advice I have seen warns against trying to repair it. Another 10c part that wears out and requires you to purchase the $300 replacement. I just finished replacing both 10c parts in the door winders at a cost of $250. mmm to votes for ...

WJ power steering pipe

I have a leaky power steering pipe and need a little advise. Replacing it isn't a issue but trying to decide if a "aftermarket" part or a "Mopar" part. I can get from Chch for $257 or a "Mopar" one for $336 from Armstrong in Wgtn overnight. Heard bad things about some of the aftermarket jobs, cross ...

OMG I may have something to contribute to this most excellent topic.

My portable worklight (Supercheap) has alligator and cigi-lighter connections, on a nice long lead. Buy one (cheap as chips) and re-purpose the leads, would be handier if you need to drill something in the cab

Well, we got back from our first decent road trip in the WJ. I reset the computer before we left; clocked 2000kms and averaged 11.1 L/100km. Just to compare, this is a 4.7HO V8 with about 287 ponies. I did the same trip two years before in a Disco2 running a 2.5 Diesel that averaged (about) 9L/100 ...

Dude, I'm sure it's not that hard to do yourself. I managed to do mine single handed on the weekend, no issues and that was on the Jeep, and I'm a complete spanner Womble. Just watch lots of Utube video's on it, get the tools you need and dive in.

That's quite some talent. Got a bit excited before I realised how old they will be now.. Not to mention what their age was then... Just had a lookupsee and the youngest was 15 at about that time, if my maths is correct, often it isn't Mike I see you have found "that place" on Utube, I don't want to ...
