Re: Nevesville/Stadia ORE
More Stadia porn to wet appetites from the Auck 4wd club trip at Waitangi weekend. And yes they managed to get the Prado (33"? tyres otherwise stock) to the waterfall and out again with a lot of towing etc. Wouldn't recommend a shiny all the way though - I chickened out and abandoned the Heep at the ...

Re: ARC views on 'off road impacts'
But if we don't reply then the anti-4wd'ers will be the only submissions and gates will be permanently slammed shut against us. Instead in the 1st question point out that the report and the questions are biased then list the positive impacts for example recreational usage for those not interested in ...

Re: LVV Certification for suspension and body lifts
Got John Brett (09 4153146) to do my 50mm lift. He met me on a Saturday at the Mt Wellington VINZ which was closest to me and had no problems at all with his service. Cost $450.

Re: dash top GPS - which one
If you already have a windows OS phone or PDA with a built in GPS, then you can just download NZ Open GPS maps and the Garmin software to run it for free. Even if you do get a Garmin Nav unit then I would recommend doing what Pedro did and use the NZ Open GPS maps anyway as they are constantly being ...

Re: Recovery and accessary gear
Thanks guys, Will take the advice and join a club 1st before spending up on too much gear. Although I might still grab some gear for solo extraction as I know I am going to be tempted when on holiday.... Good reminder about the first aid kit and course. Its one of those things that slip of the list ...

Recovery and accessary gear
Next year I'm hoping to join a club and do some trips etc in a XJ. Nothing hard core and I won't have a winch but would like to eventually do more then basic "shiny" trips. To this end what do you guys recommend I equip the jeep with? Rear recovery point: I already have 10000lbs rated tow hooks ...
XJ do up
A few months ago I decided that my '94 XJ which I had owned for 4 1/2 years was well past its prime and due to be upgraded. But after looking around I kept coming back to one make that was suitable for what I wanted to do - the XJ!. So figured since I already had one I might as well spend some money ...

Re: Jeep cherokee lift
How high do you want to go? I have just completed a 2" lift using coil spacers and extended shackles (longer shocks as well), but even with this low lift I noticed the factory leaf springs had flattened out by quite a bit. It would have been fine for normal on and off road use but it worried me that ...

Re: Bump stop extensions
Thanks guys. I didn't think it would need one either but I asked the WOF guy and he said he wouldn't pass it without a cert. Then asked a LVV guy who said "Yup it needs it" so probably should get it certified. Of course I could always find an easier WOF guy! (my normal one is a tough one). Mines a ...

Bump stop extensions
I'm currently doing up my old XJ, improving on it as a 4wd camper. As part of the renovation I've put in a 2" coil space and extended shackle lift which I need to get certified sometime. I spoke to a certifier a couple of weeks ago and he mentioned that the bump stops will need to be extended to ...
