Re: 80 Series front diff head
i put a 91 hilux lsd diff centre into my 93 70 series front diff(same as an 80), just had to put the bigger bearing races from the hilux head into the hi pinion head. oh had to change the crown wheel on the diff centre because they have different gear cuts.

Re: cable locker into a bj74
60 series rear housing is 50mm wider than 74 has your diff got the axles that poke out of the wheels sort of like the front then you have a full floater and it will fit. also check the diff ratios as the 60's run 3.7 and 4.1 ratio diffs, count the teeth on both the crown wheel and pinion on both ...

WTF why reinvent the wheel if its not fcuked why fix it? the people that think that they can win first time out in ANY SPORT is dreaming, but has happened. the ones that place in the top spots have got there by hard work, modifcations and TEAMWORK. moving the goalposts to suit the beginners and ...

Re: Snapping Axle Studs
it shouldn't be breaking studs/dowels on loose shingle as there isn't enough traction/torque if its digging. i run 36'' simex with a locked diff and a tweaked 350 that i drive like i stole it with no broken studs/dowels YET.
is the axle bent?

Re: Snapping Axle Studs
if you go to toyota and get a full set of axle/hub studs and dowel pins for a 100 series cruiser (10mm not 8mm) and a bit of machining by someone that knows what they're doing and presto no more problems.

Re: My 70series cruiser
oh you will also need the 80 series brake pedal as well. with the pedal you will need to bend it towards the drivers seat(many many cuts down the spine and reweld) the 70 pedal doesnt fit as well from memory.

Re: My 70series cruiser
you will enjoy the extra width with these diffs. my bj73 has 80 series diffs and suspension in it with 36'' simexs on it. great on the side of a hill. are you changing the brake booster and master cylinder from an 80 to match the rest of the brakes? if so get them from a pre 93 80 series as they ...

Re: Vibration when rolling to a stand still.
manual or auto? try manual shifting down the gears in auto. if manual is foot on clutch when this happens. check uni joints on rear drive shaft. check if the front drive shaft is turning freely to make sure that the hubs and tranfer case are disengaged.

do you want the revs to come down then you need to put higher ratio diffs such as 4.1s. 4.88s are lower and the top speed will be slower

before you get all fired up and squirt me with a hose again have you tryed it or just raining on my parade? without a thermastat, your heater doesnt work properly because the coolant is moving to fast. i have been using this old wives tale for quiet a while with no problems as have a few of my mates ...

Re: diff ratios
you will find that the overall top speed is higher than speedo reading as the transfer case and the final drive hasnt changed but the tire size has. get someone with accurate speedo to pace you and check speed. you have 2 other ratios to choose from 4.3 and 4.1. 4.1 will give good economy but poor ...

Re: overheating cruiser
making a plate with a 15mm hole in it slows the coolant down to maximise the systems cooling potental, the same as as a thermastat without the hassles of thermastat failure.
