Re: new member needs help with 80 series cruiser

I have an early 12 valve 80. I did the shells as soon as I got it, they are cheap ($60) and pretty easy to do. They were fine but it's cheap insurance.

Re: Which intercooler or maybe water injection

Do you do a lot of towing?
If not maybe ditch it altogether?

Re: Which intercooler or maybe water injection

Hey, I have a '91 80 series. I have just bought a 600x300x75 Intercooler which I'm going to mount in the front. I don't do heaps of offroad work. The only issue (which is a large issue) is getting the pipe work sorted, Im thinking it is going to be a bit of a mission, but I've read that you should ...

Re: 3 inch exaust systems. where to buy. 80 serries and safa

I've just had my 80 series done with a mandrel bent 3" on Monday. It was substantially cheaper than the auto bend ones, which I've heard can be a bit of a mission to fit.

My advice would be to go visit a few exhaust outfits. I had quotes from $900-$1400.

Cheers

3" exhaust on next week, 1hdt

Hey, Exhaust crapped itself so good time to go to the three inch, which I've read can do amazing things for the 1hdt. I've got a bit of cash lying around and was thinking of doing an Intercooler at the same time. I want to do front mount, has anyone put a 600x300x75 in the front of a 80 series ...

Re: 80 series to LJ70/78

Looks ideal, but looking at the price might be better to sell my auto vehicle and try find a manual.

Does anyone know if the 70 series box and transfer bolt into a 80? I'm guessing you would need to swap over to the manual locking hubs?

Re: 80 series to LJ70/78

That sounds ideal, and will probably happen some time down the track as I've always love an 80s ute.

Thanks for the replies, think I'll stick with the 80,

Does anyone know of a good exhaust outfit in Dunedin for 3"?

Cheers

80 series to LJ70/78

Hey, I've currently got a 91 80 series which Ive had for around five years, I love it, but is so massive and I don't have any kids or need for lots of space, it's pretty much standard but when I have been offroad it's been very capable (it's got factory front and rear diff locks) it's auto and ever ...

Yeah, I just sucks that a product from New Zealand can be bought for less in Australia than NZ!

Re: 4.2 turbo exhaust

They ship those Rage exhausts to Aussie and sell them at half the cost here on Ebay. Go have a search. I emailed them about it and all I got back was a quote something like $1040

What was the quote worth? - if you don't mind me asking. I'm looking at going down the 3" route as well.

That is one sweet 80 series. I've got one the same colour, just stock height though.

Where did you get your spring spacers from?

Thanks

80 Series custom rear draws/bed

Hi,

I'm wanting to make some rear draws for 80 series, but I also want to make something that can be folded out over the rear seats to make a platform for a bed.

Does anyone have anything like this? If so do you have any pictures of them?

Thanks

Hey from Dunedin

Hey, Fairly new to 4wding, had a 2l-t surf before this, which had the usual 2l-t problems, overheating etc etc. So traded up to a 1991 80 Series 4.2 TD, didn't really have a clue when I was buying it, but ended up with the front and rear factory lockers! Didn't even realise when I bought it. No ...
