I had a 2.8 hilux on 33's and it was getting 14.5 litres per 100 kms.... when I was running 31's it was getting 12 litres per 100 kms. That was with fresh oil and additives.... I don't think a surf would be too much different as it will have the aerodynamics of a brick also....

there are a few options available... you could have a plate made up with the hook bolted to it, which you then swap over with your tow bar when you go off road, otherwise under an engineers supervision weld a plate to the main bar on the towbar and bolt the hook to that. I think up to a certain degree you have to check every componant out on a truck when you own one and even more so once modified.
