Re: 1KZ-TE
Thanks Jocko, You have cleared up a lot questions that I won,t have to post up now. After making a template of the end of my gearbox where you unbolt the transfer case and going to a few wreckers, found that it matched all the R-series boxes that I tried it on. So all I have to do now is buy the ...

1KZ-TE
Finally got hold of an engine (intercooled) to transplant in my LN106 . Once I got it home and talked to a few people found it has TPS (throttle positioning sensor) and is not cable operated. Is this going to be a problem or can it be modified. It is out of a KZN185. Also it is a front sump model ...

Re: 1KZTE Hilux vs Surf
Is there an adaptor plate to mount a LN106 gear driven transfer case to a KZN185 manual gearbox. This would then put the front driveshaft on the correct side and also allow me to continue running my transmission brake. Also if the dual mass flywheel fails and I change to a solid flywheel can the ...

Re: 1KZTE Hilux vs Surf
Has anyone put the new KD engine into a LN106 yet. If they use the same block as the 1KZ-TE then engine mounts would be the same
Suspect the worst of it would be the wiring.

Re: 1KZTE Hilux vs Surf
The figures I have are hilux ute 85kw surf (non intercooled) 96kw surf ( intercooled) 103kw So are the ute and surf engines exactly the same with a bit of detuning for some reason? Does the ute run a R-series gearbox and if not is that the reason for the detune. Just trying to get options for a ...

1KZTE Hilux vs Surf
What is the difference between the 1kzte in the hilux utes and the one in the surf. The figures I have seen say the surf has a higher kw output. The reason I ask is that it is hard to find a manual 1kzte surf to do a engine swap into a 2.8 hilux ute. Most 1kzte hilux utes I have seen are manual ...
