Re: suzuki recovery bar
I made one up for my Vitara, the club engineer didn't like the idea of using shackles so I wound up plating the chassis and mounting hooks. Would have accepted the shackles if I'd insisted, I think. http://s681.photobucket.com/user/tel1nz/media/2014-03-08%2018.08.01.jpg.html a few photos of the ...

Re: Old pattern 35x12.5r15 Wrangler
I've got a brand new (well, unused) 35 x 12.5 x 15" Wrangler MTR "Dura Wall Puncture resistant Technology" (pre kevlar) I was going to put on TM today. Its the unused spare off my old Patrol, been on a rim for years but never run. On one of those light "Campeao De Mondo Das Best Au De Welt" 15 Mags ...

Re: wanted safari stub axles
I need to start parting out the GQ Patrol that's been on the front lawn for 2 years - it has a full gussetted diff (with original slight bend from teh welding heat, Doh) with LSD in it. Was going to try and sell as a complete unit but I'm slack as, so I guess I could start by parting it out. What ...

What's this Odd Bolt on Escudo read diff?
Hi Folks, grabbed a front diffhead and CVs from a V6 2L Escudo at Pick-a-part yesterday (needed 26-spline front as I'm adding a lockrite and blah blah), and grabbed the rear head while I was there - it's got an odd adjustment-bolt type thing by the top-arm mounts (sorry, only pic I've got's a bit ...

Re: Safari PTO with extractors?
Hiya , yep I've got the Rage ones in my (dead) truck - they do several models, from memory - you have to tell them you want the ones for a PTO. I might have had to tap them slightly with a hammer, it was ages ago - but no major dramas... Mine was the petrol patrol, but I don't think there's any ...

Yep, you time the G16A/B engines with the "E" - I timed with the "I" and it wouldn't fire at all.... This guy has a lot of good info, a bit hard to follow but worth the info, if you haven't already been there: http://www.fixkick.com/t-belt/16-fast-belt-install.html

Re: WTB G16B Trottle position sensor
When mine went (you can test them with a multimeter, see m) I went to pickapart and browsed cars and found several that would swap in - I'm currently running one from a 3.0 maxima, don't know the year sorry - fitted perfectly (right way around - some apparently identical ones don't fit the drive ...

Re: G13BB timeing Belt cover
I've got one off a G16B 16v - couple of the bolt holes broken (I've looked at 3, they all seem to have at least 1 broken, I just put big washers on now) I suspect they're the same? If anyone can confirm they fit and you can get it, you're welcome to it. In on the Kapiti coast. My major hobby seems ...

Re: Vitara clutch cable fight with fan/ timing belt?
yep, more power - faster recharging if the battery goes flat, good for winching or just running big lights. A bit of a squeeze to fit in, but they're generally cheap as so it's worth the swap.

There's a Baleno with a G16B at pickapart in Epuni, don't know what the block's like but the head was good
As far as I know they're a direct swap with G16A, they only charge $39 so almost worth pulling it to have a look, if it's still there, of course - was 2 weeks ago....

I'd be inclined to upgrade the alternator to a 2nd hand 110A Fairmont one - it's easy and they're cheap from the wreckers... Last one I did took an hour and from memory I think $35 from pick-a-prat.

yep, I think it's been hot - the plug leads were cooked onto the plugs, had to chip the ends off with a scriber and hammer to get the socket on them. Plugs themselves look good, it does start (eventually) but chuffing back into the radiator, spits a wee bit out the exhaust too, but doesn't seem to ...

Escudo 1600 16v blown head gasket
Hi, just bought a dead Escudo - body in fair nick but has a blown head gasket and "it's been driven till it stopped" according to the mechanic. Does anyone know if these are an easy fix, or am I better off just finding a replacement engine straight off?
cheers,
Terry

cheers Jerry, an update - he's had a mechanic look at it, and the motor is definitely stuffed. Moneys tight so replacement has to be cheap - so no 3l turbos

Wgtn 2LT T-Diesel cheap replacement needed
Hi folks, just had a call from a mate who bought a 1993 hilux-surf a few weeks back on TM, has dropped a valve (he thinks) on Ngauranga hill - very clattery but still runs, just v. v. rough. He knows nothing about them, engine is a 2LT-2446 turbo diesel. Does this sound like a common fault? and does ...

sweet - Seal Imports translated that into a 25mm x 47mm x 6.35 seal, I've gone with their closest, a 25 x 47 x 7mm, in viton (hopefully a bit more temperature resistant than the old one - the extractors are about 20mm away...) I'll see how it fits tomorrow - worse case scenario I have to take the ...

Wanted: Patrol GQ PTO Output shaft Seal info
Hi folks, my PTO box is leaking gearbox oil onto the extractors, really stinking up the truck... Has anyone replaced theirs who remembers the output shaft seal specs or part numbers? Kinda dark at the mo to go pulling it apart, rather get the bits then just throw them in if I can... cheers, Terry

and if it is the headlight switch (also comon on commodores with bigger bulbs - the switch on mine sent out smoke signals...) once it's cleaned up, fit relays from the battery to the headlights, switched by the original headlight wiring - it'll reduce the current through the switch so it doesn't ...

Hi, 1.6 auto 5-door diff R&P are a common swap into 413s and Samurais as they are nice and low, so you'll probably already have the lowest (cheap) ratio available - Samurais come with 3.73, 3.9 or 4.1 - Escudos 3 door auto 4.62, Manual 5.1, all sports models are 5.1, Auto Overdrive 5 doors come with ...

I got one of those for doing the suzki diffs, $105.52 incl postage from bicycle.co.nz, might be worth trying torpedo7, they're usually cheapest but it isn't listed on their website atm. Pity I'm in the wrong island, I won't be doing the R&P swap for another month or so...

And one other thought - you should go for the best grunt you can afford, but while you're at it try and check if you can run thin wire at low amps if you'll be doing body work (say .6mm wire) - I've got a really old 350A Cigweld that's a great welder, but had to keep my original cruddy 130A unit for ...
