Re: Best Insurance Companys for modified 4wd's
I have tried AMI, but they said they wouldn't cover a modified vehicle(its only a prado with a few bits and peices bolted on) . Might have to go into a branch and talk to some real people.

Re: Best Insurance Companys for modified 4wd's
I'm going through the same battle at the moment, have tried Barley but they say I need to be part of a 4wd club. Other than insuring through someone like NAC and their massive excess etc I can't get insurance. I've been driving for almost 9 years without a claim, traffic infringment or anthing and ...

Nah no improvement with the flush, have just had the injectors tested and they're knackered so hopefully a new set will do something.

Thirsty prado
I've got a 96 1kz prado and its currently getting around the 15l/100k mark, I've got a couple of mates with them and they're easily getting 10l/100k. Running 265/75r16 tyres so not much bigger than standard, it seems a bit excessive to me. Have tried the usual filters etc, and will get the injectors ...

When running the engine with the nose pointing up hill I go around and squeeze all the hoses to help try push all the air out. You can also pressure bleed the system to.

600kms from 72ltrs? Is that around town or caning? Because I'd be hoping for like 700km from that much cruising, 800kms can be easily achieved from a tank cruising normally in a LWB with over 300000ks. Mates SWB model runs at 8L/100km open road.

Prado auto trans troubles
I've got a 96 90 series prado, its really harsh in the gear shifts. Especially when hitting overdrive, or shifting up from 1st to 2nd manually etc. The trans has had a flush and filter change but it hasn't helped, any ideas on where to go to from here? Thanks in advance.

Re: Ute or wagon?
For the same money your going to get a much nicer vehicle in a surf, so unless you really need a deck for loading up with with crap then there is heaps of room in the back of a surf and it keeps everything nice and dry to. And for comfort a surf will run rings around a ute of that vintage.

A mate just did one, he just brought a hole surf that was no longer road legal and swaped the loom, eng, trans and all over. Other than cutting the engine mounts off the parts surf and welding them into the old 2.4 chassie it was preatty straight foward. Then you come out of it with a spare surf to ...

Cheers, those photos are great. Yea i've just cut the top off a standard tappet cover, is there any special reason for the different throttle body? Just thinking I could make up a flange to mate the standard one to the intercooler.

Im looking at putting an intercooler of a prado on the surf, but hear that the inlet manifolds are different between the intercooled and non intercooled 1kz. Anybody know what the difference between the 2 is? Cheers
