Re: kzn185 torque converter llockup

thanks very much. will only be used on accel, although i cant see why it would do any damage using it on decel as well? towing around 2tonnes of trailer without having it locked causes some serious transmission heat issues... can u change gear with the t/c locked or does having it locked not allow ...

kzn185 torque converter llockup

anyone know which wire for the t/c lock up... or even have a ecu pinout or something, my transmission hates me for towing 2tonnes up hills.

1kzte knocking sound from cyl 2.

ive got a knocking sound from cylinder 2 .. sounds like something tapping , and will tap faster as rpm increases.. i think the engine has been run low on oil due to leaking turbo . mechanic friend thinks its in the bottom end, so basically means a rebuild or 2nd hand engine. what sort of money would ...

1kz te oil pressure relief valve

Anyone know the location of this on the engine, and if its accessable from the outside without taking the sump off.

Whats a good way to flush the engine out, im possibly thinking the engine is full of sludge as im getting low oil pressure.

Re: Just upgraded turbo 1kz-te but minimal oil from turbo return

The standard size line is 3mm. Ball bearing turbos use even less however im still @ 3mm and have tried 6mm. Ball bearing turbos use a 1mm restrictor inline, so the problem is not the line size. The engine has done 250000ks, ive been alerted that the pressure relief valve maybe stuck slightly.. Can i ...

Re: Just upgraded turbo 1kz-te but minimal oil from turbo return

Ah, the oil return is 20mm wide, but the oil feed is 3mm wide.. Getting very little flow through the turbo. Boost is totally different to flow.. Having 25psi boost on the standard turbo will keep way to much heat around the head. Having more flow through the engine allows for better power as its ...

Just upgraded turbo 1kz-te but minimal oil from turbo return

Its a rb25det skyline turbo ball bearing.. Im running around a 3mm oil feed line, but the oil just trickles out from the oil return and i can hear that its not lubricating the turbo correctly so dont want to fuk the turbo. With the oil feed not on the turbo it pisses out nicely.. Plenty of flow. Any ...

Re: Chinese turbo?

Ive used many chinese turbos on petrol cars, most ive ever driven is 20000k's before i sold them but i had no problems. Make sure you prime the turbo before running it, most are journel bearing turbos and WILL burnout if they are not primed before the first use

Re: Is this all correct??

thanks my logic behind thinking the egt gauge put in the downpipe is that i will install the cars exhaust first, get all the readings from the egt tempretures, as this should be safe levels seeing as its basically still a standard engine, then start modifying keeping in mind the original tempretures ...

Re: Is this all correct??

I also had a thought that by just changing the downpipe to a 2.5inch jobbie and center muffler to free flow the standard 2 1/4 inch tube piping could provide for some good gain. Im trying to do this on as much of a budget as possible

ive got a bone stock non intercooled kzn185 done 230k. im to soon be towing a trailer around 1800kg quite often, so need to get some more juice from this beast. from what ive researched, can someone answer these questions --- what intercooler can i install that will not require a body lift, apart ...
