Re: How long do most stock Terrano Gearboxes last?
So I also found this one. There's very little info about it though. Would I be better off to look at something a bit more stock and which likely hasn't had such a hard life, yet has more km like this? http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=892870075 I'm trying to organise an inspection for ...

Re: How long do most stock Terrano Gearboxes last?
Cheers for the responses. I assume the petrol terranos have the same shotty gear box? Little bit unsure what you mean when you say "the gearbox you a refering to had an issue from factory. " Crash. I didn't specify my past problems in this post but you may have looked through my other ones...

How long do most stock Terrano Gearboxes last?
I previously owned a 2.7TD manual terrano in 2013 and the km's were about 250thou. The gear box (i think) died on me after about 4000km so it was sold as I didn't have the money for it at the time due to other expenses. I'm currently looking for another 4x4 and considering another terrano but it see...

WTB: 4 door Manual Hilux/surf/terrano
Willing to spend 3-5g. Must be manual, ideally diesel and be able to get a WOF before purchase. I'm located in Wellington but will travel in the North Island for the right vehicle. Finding it super hard to find diesel manuals that aren't 10k+. Just scummy hacks that people have beaten to shit with n...

Re: Gear problem with '93 2.7TD Terrano
Hey guys, back again. I never did look into the linkages as we replaced the slave cylinder and it is almost back to what it was - driving normally when in gear. However it still has problems going into some gears. It can go in but sometimes feels blocked or is just harder to put in. My friend sugges...

Re: Gear problem with '93 2.7TD Terrano
Straight up just remove the stick covers and pull the gear stick up? Then what? stick it back in?
The gear stick is still moving fine and I can put it in and out of gears.

Re: Gear problem with '93 2.7TD Terrano
So, just an update... and could be keen to hear thoughts if anyone has any other ideas. We bled the slave and topped up the clutch fluid and now the truck seems to be stuck in gear? in Neutral it drives forward, even in reverse it drives forwards. It can be put into gear but it is very very hard to ...

Gear problem with '93 2.7TD Terrano
I was driving along in 5th, and tried to shift down to 4th and it wouldn't go in. I couldn't put it into anything except 5th again. So I came to a stop and it let me into 1st, and while I could shift up, I could never shift back down, then I became harder to even be shifting up. It sounds like it is...

Reset my password without logging in.
I got auto logged out a few days ago, but went to login just now and couldn't remember my password. I tried so many times I got the captcha as well. I saw on the right hand side that even though it was asking me to login to post, I could click on "My Account" > "Edit" > and then ...

Bump, upping my price to $3500 but only within the wellington region. Not having much luck with the ones I've looked at.

4wd wanted $3000
Gave up on the MU as the owners kept "forgetting" things and it was too much hassle sorting out the mess they made of the RUC/Odo I'm looking for preferably an MU, Terrano, Surf/Hilux, Diesel, Manual. Although I'm open to other options, that's just preference. Looking in the wellington are...

Re: 4wd choices?
Happy to help out with looking at Nelson based vehicles for you. Cheers mate, I appreciate that. I just noticed that gold terrano is an auto which is a bit of a bummer. Just out of curiosity - seeing as the MU is going for a wof tomorrow. Other than the high km's, what do people think of MU's? Shou...

Re: 4wd choices?
So decided I could look at Nelson area as well - I can get on the ferry with all my crap and have friends in Mot who might be able to pick it up for me. So if anyone has suggestions on some in Nelson I'd be keen to hear. The gold terrano on trademe is an option at the moment but I'm unsure about buy...

Re: 4wd choices?
Not really. I am looking in the wellington region. They are the two lowest prices. Most are selling around 3g+ even if they have over 300thou km. I thought Diesel engines had a life around 500thou km and petrols of 300thou? The engine on the MU definitely sounded healthier, but I have less experien...

Re: 4wd choices?
Not an option. These are the only two within my budget. Just drove the Terrano today and there was a bubbling noise coming from what seemed to be the gearbox. He said it's on its fifth gearbox, and this one was put in close on 80,000km ago. I once had a subaru with air stuck in the radiator that bub...

Someone round Blenheim to check a vechile out for me?
Is anyone available to check out a Toyota Surf for me? Owned one before and drive shaft was loose, cv boots ripped, electrics were faulty. Would just like someone to check these things, the 4wd, tread, and anything else helpful they can think of. Maybe take pictures if there is something of concerna...

Re: Surf parts costs
mmm, I am not too knowledgeable about tyre sizes and rims. What is the biggest size I can get without having to raise it? IS there any point putting a lift kit in with tyres that size? When I look up the duelers they come in 30-33. Any suggestions? I'm not sure if you can guess the size by a picture...

Re: Surf parts costs
Cheers for the response, I am in wellington at the moment, but will be heading south to either Nelson or Alexandra in awhile. And then probably West coast after feb. I had Dueler MT's on my last surf and loved them. Would like to get them again. Need a tyre that will handle the mud pretty decently a...

Surf parts costs
Hey guys, I owned an 'offroad' surf awhile ago, bought it from a mechanic who had done everything himself, and obviously a shit job as it just started falling to bits. I should have kept it and fixed it up as the actual engine and body was great condition, but I was in debt and needed the money from...
