Re: Window Washer Pump
Aren't there two pumps plumbed directly into the bottom of the washer reservoir? One pump for the front and one for the rear window? Thanks mate, you're right. It's a bit confusing because the big reservoir seems to be feeding to the rear window? Although there are two pumps on that one. Anyway, I ...

Window Washer Pump
1990 Safari 4.2
Where in the heck is the window washer pump? Mine doesn't work and has just failed a warrant. I cannot find it in the manual so would appreciate some direction to avoid pulling things apart I don't need to
cheers

Re: TD42 missing at 1800 rpm
Thanks, vehicle is manual and must be about 350K on the clock. Haven't done the air-cleaner in a couple of years but she's had pretty light use due to company ute. Might be worth replacing anyway. What's the IP? Once this gets too technical I need to seek professional help but it's worth trying a ...

TD42 missing at 1800 rpm
Long time since I was last here. My 1990 Safari TD42 has suddenly started missing at 1800rpm. I though it was probably the fuel filter so changed that but alas, no better. Basically, runs fine until you hit that rev range then there is a sudden loss of power and the vehicle simply won't push through ...

Re: TD42 runs rough in the morning, then fine. Any ideas?
I was thinking the fuel filter as well - especially due to that exact timing each morning. Might be an easy place to start.

TD42 runs rough in the morning, then fine. Any ideas?
1990 Safari TD42 Just the last few days my Nissan has done the following. 1. First thing in the morning it starts fine, runs fine 2. After about 3-4min it starts to lose revs and power and miss a bit. Smokey when rev'd 3. After another few minutes it runs smooth again 4. Starts and runs fine for the ...

Safari Aerial Mount
Hi all, can anyone recommend a replacement to the electric aerial on my 1990 Safari? As you can see the cowl mount goes round the corner and none of the standard aerials fit. I don't want another electric one, just a rubber thing that can be bent over and smacked about without snapping! photo 2 (2 ...

Free rear sway-bar disconnector
Pulled this out of my 1990 Safari. It's the business end of the rear sway-bar disconnector. I was having trouble with it popping out and seeing as I had no need for the thing got a mate to weld up a permanent connection. This is free to a good home - just pay the freight (prob $5 nationwide non RD ...

Quick question about tyres.
Hi all. My 1990 Safari LWB needs two new tyres for the front. I do 90% road useage but go offroad in the weekends to get to a couple of surf spots. Have got two prices locally. Firestone 10R15 604's (I think they had Desert Dueler on the side) @ $266 ea Tyrepower 31 x 10.5 15 Maxxis MA75 @ $270 ea ...

Re: Nissan Safari 4WD Options
Just to sum-up this thread ... I recently jacked up the rear of my truck and can confirm I do have a slippy in the back which is good news (do they even make them without?!). I have to assume that my auto front hubs aren't operating as well as they should so will manually lock them in the future ...

Re: Nissan Safari 4WD Options
OK - thanks, that makes a bit more sense. Several people have told me that I need to lock the front hubs to be in 4WD. I knew this couldn't be the case because I regularly (every day) change into 4WD from the cab so I can slowly back up a very steep piece of gravel drive into my garage. Final ...

Nissan Safari 4WD Options
I'm not an experienced off road driver. I use my GQ Safari for few of the harder to access surf beaches up here in Northland and for getting to my house when our ford floods! Recently I got fairly well bogged down in some very soft and deep sand. I got out in the end but it wasn't as easy as I'd ...

Re: GQ Safari Indicator not working
Brilliant - thanks gards and Twodiffs.
I've found the relay which is obviously easy to remove. Where's the best place to source a replacement part ? Does it have to be Nissan or is there a generic replacement part I can get thru Repco or similar ?
thanks again

Re: GQ Safari Indicator not working
OK - not much response so I'm giving this a bit of a bump .... I have removed the Hazard switch but I'm not sure how to take this apart and/or clean the contacts. There is a little brown disc screwed into the side ... I tried to "unscrew" this but it just goes round in circles (which probably means ...

Re: GQ Safari Indicator not working
Thanks - I have worked out that horn and hazards are on the same circuit so tripping hazards blows the horn too. As the above link points out, it doesn't matter which I use first, hazards or indicators as they both go through the hazards switch. Use either and the relevant fuse will blow. I assume ...

GQ Safari Indicator not working
Some electrical funny business going on in my Safari. Indicators don't work (incl hazard) neither does horn. I checked and replaced a blown 15amp fuse, but when I turn on the hazards there's an odd noise behind the dash (near hazard button) and the fuse blows again. Is this a simple prob to fix ...

Of course I had no idea that was what it was before.
Anyway, sounds like something I should leave alone.

Mystery handle on GQ dash
OK - another stupid question from me.
Fist time owner of a Safari, LWB, '90.
To the left of the steering column, half hidden under the dash is a little lever ... almost looks like one of those dash mounted hand-brakes. Got a lot of Japanese gibberish written next to it.
WTF is it ?!

Hi all. Have recently swapped my 3 series coupe with about 2inch clearance for a standard looking 4.2 GQ '90 LWB low-roof manual ... ... and I love it. Much more practical for our 5 acres of land than that ridiculous beemer! Q1. The only thing that I'm not sure about on this new truck is that it ...
