Re: Front Axle removal
Hey Glenn, you might remember I had some fun pulling this out a while back: http://www.offroadexpress.co.nz/Forums/viewtopic.php?f=24&t=31176 . The trouble is the long-side axle housing is just full of air (and crap). There's just a dust seal keeping stuff out. So the socket that the axle shaft ...

Most of the vids of diesel runaway where the engine is running on oil show plumes of blue smoke.
If it's belting out black smoke, seem more likely that it's running on diesel.

Re: Welding front diff - with auto hubs
I wonder if each electric hub could be independently switched, then one wheel coudl be released with a flick of a switch if steering is becoming a bitch. If the locked wheel comes off the ground you could flick over to the other side. I've tried this on my truck (driving with the front diff locked ...

sorry to burst your bubble mate but thats what Im getting per tank. maybe you need to check your driving style Dude, you must be using miracle gas! There isn't a single mid-size V6 around that's getting much better than 10 l/100km (even that would be super-economical). http://www.fuelly.com/car/nis...

Sorry, don't have one.
And you're right, needs to be from a Pajero.
However, the 3000cc engines have the same starter.

Re: Remote free spool on electric winches
On my tigerz11 I had in mind to fit a cable wheel (like what's on your throttle body, but a full 180° rather than just 90°), with a spring return (again, just like on a throttle body. Then I was just going to use an idle-up cable back to the cab. Spring would return it to normal operation. A half pu...

Electrical interference
Can anyone enlighten me on ways of finding sources of electrical interference? Or recommend somewhere I can take it to deal with it (Auckland)? I've got 3.5 pajero (non GDI) - seems to me that I'm getting quite a lot of electrical noise going on. Certainly more than it used to, and more that other v...

Re: Welding front diff - with auto hubs
I've got a locker in the front of my Pajero. Can't go round corners at all with the front locked. If I'm not rolling forward, I can't even turn the steering wheel. What type do you have? I've got an ARB RD110 for the 8" front. Factory rear locker. Works a treat. Pretty much like cheating. Pric...

What are they rubbing on? If it's on parts of the body, perhaps you can get rid of the body parts that are rubbing. Or, if it's at full lock, perhaps reduce your steering travel, or look at larger offset rims?

Same problem with noisey lifters in Mitsi 3.0 V6 engines.

10.5 mm tread remaining (70%, in the middle) and in good condition. There's no side-wall damage, just typical wear and tear on the lugs. A couple of the tread blocks have cuts in them, with a chunk missing (pictured). http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=538238979&ed=true photo 1s.jpg...

Re: KYB Monomax shocks
I was looking to get these for my truck 3.5 pajero SWB, but my local KYB agent didn't stock them. So I got the KYB gas-a-just instead. They are also a monotube strut. Seem good so far (20000 km, occasional offroading). Hardness-wise, they feel about halfway between the H and M setting on the factory...

Went for a trundle up the beach on Monday... Developed a brake leak and had to drive home with no brakes.
There's something about that place. I'm two-for-two on breakages up there. Last time the radiator fan dined on the radiator...
Hopefully third time's a charm.
