Re: The Gen 4 Paj
Interesting reading. I have just bought an 09 GLS. I don't have dash rattles but the tailgate is driving me mad! Where did you buy the EGR off module from? Do you know if the temperature signal affects the ecu MAF calculation at all?

Don't. But if you must, very thirsty, not that grunty. Trans is GM4L30e (a relative of the Commodore trans) if it's not a factory 7 seater, there's more to it than finding seats and belts. The boot floor is different. Others may love the isuzu v6 but I hate it. Just about any other v6 is better IMHO.

Pretty sure that's an efi truck, it's a facelift model. My 95 facelift was efi. Looks like a nice wagon though. Nothing wrong with a 4jg2 that isn't also a problem on other jappa diesels.

Re: learn me Disco style's
Any real world evidence I have seen of V8 economy ranges from a best of 17l/100 and well into the 20's for trucks that are driven around town a lot or off-roaded frequently. The flashing cogs on the dash indicate the transmission is in limp mode which would explain a lack of power as it locks the tr...

Re: learn me Disco style's
I have a D2 TD5 and not a single piece of electricity is broken. Air suspension is maligned by those who don't understand it. TD5 is a VERY robust engine if it's looked after, which frankly isn't hard to do. Parts reasonably priced. Biggest party trick is at the pumps. 90 litre tank gives up to 1000...

For that sort of coin I'd recon the 2.8. They can make good power and are more economical than the 3.1

Re: Just bought a Disco TD5
I have the loom and a bunch of filters on the to do list tomorrow. I bought a genuine Siemens MAF from UK. Island 4x4 was the cheapest. I was running with the boost modulator bypassed and it went fine, but I ordered a new one with the loom and filters it was less than $40 and it goes even better now...

Yeah please keep me posted. I just bought this. Very happy at the moment. :D I have just ordered a Nanocom so when I have that hooked up I can change the annoying auto-locking and alarm settings and see if all is well with MAF and boost etc.. I'll tweak the boost to a quarter turn off standard boos...

Re: Just bought a Disco TD5
Injector loom, boost control solenoid and a bunch of filters are currently on their way from UK. Increasing the boost has been a good move, but a flat spot and some roughness still exists when the engine is cold between 1500 and 2000 rpm. There is also resonant vibration under load between 1800 and ...

Good on you for keeping on with the Landy. I've only had my 110 for 6 months and I'm loving working on it!
No egt, but stock maximum boost is 130kpa which is 19psi so it should be safe enough.

Re: Just bought a Disco TD5
I have taken it for a test drive with a new MAF fitted. Still epically slow off the mark. Anyone in Taranaki with a Hawkeye or Nanocom? I'm wondering if I have a code pending for injectors or something because at steady 1600rpm the engine rocks quite a bit (intermittent miss perhaps) P.O said the in...

This always happens! I thought I did a pretty thorough job of checking this wagon out. There was no wet smell or any evidence of moisture anywhere in the truck and it lived outside in Taranaki so I thought sweet, it must be watertight... So the first rain we have after I get it home proves me wrong!...

Finding some problems, as expected. Sluggish as hell from standstill, turns out the MAF is buggered. New one on the way. The boost modulator solenoid has also been bypassed, so has obviously had some issues in the past. MAP sensor is nice and clean though, must have been cleaned when the EGR delete ...

More good news. No ACE, both air springs and the compressor have been done, and it has a very nice EGR delete kit fitted and the EGR bits have been disabled in the ECU. The seller also provided a transmission service kit so I'll do that soon. It has two sunroofs which I don't really like, but at lea...

Check the rubber hose to the boost compensator on top of the fuel pump. Check both ends, and make sure there's no sooty oily crap blocking the nipple on the turbo end.

Haha! By heavy would it be more than 16 litre per 100k on average? That's the figure I've used to plan a fuel budget. The plan would be 7500-10,000 km per year max. I hear they drive unlike any other 4wd on the road. Dash out sounds painful. I wonder if car makers have made it any easier over the ye...
