i gave my old terrano a 100 mm body lift and only had to extend fuel filler and steering shaft, but it did make changing the starter motor alot easier :lol and i still had to trim guards to stop the 33s from rubbing but it had no sway bars tho

Seems pressy hit the nail on the head and there was a micro filter on the injector pump it was deep down and hard to see but once he cleaned it his truck was back to normal, thanks for help

he said it was missing the micro filter on fuel pump and when he runs injector cleaner ect it seems to make it worse

this truck runs fine and no smoke until it reaches 3500 revs, i think he had the diesel bug last year and its never been right since then, he has had the whole system clean ect but maybe he didn't do that micro filter i will check with him soon

my friend has a 1991 4.2 diesel non turbo (wry60)

engine wont rev over 3500 revs WHY?
when driving it has heaps of power untill it hits 3500 revs then it will puff a bit of white smoke and starts to miss,

any help will be great,

could it be possible that is over fueling some how at idle

Also advertised on trade me i have a 1991 toyota surf(2.4 turbo 2lt) which i am re-powering, so the old engine is up for grabs it is still in car and driven daily its a very strong motor and its very fast,does not blow any smoke at all altho it could do with some new glow plugs as i glow them twice ...

think we may have it sorted we might have put something inside the pump around the wrong way, we turned the pump around 180 and it seems to sound ok so we will put it altogether tommorrow and test it out

thanks Phil do you know if there is some other way to adjust the fuel timing other than turning the entire inj pump body? I have tried advancing/retarding it through the full range and still no fix.

My injector pump was leaking badly so i pulled it & replaced the o rings etc. The leak has stopped but now i have a BAD knocking across the rev range that sounds like a fuel problem. Timing marks on cam and crank pulleys are lined up fine along with the injector pump and the full range of adjustment ...
