Bummer. Is yours a Manual or Auto? I guess either way you have to remove the box, Transfercase etc to get the bellhousing off, then replace the $20 seal, so the $550 would be about right for the labour to do all that.
Hi Paulie, If it is the front seal, then you don't have to remove the engine to get at it. I have just had mine done. Remove the fanbelts, and bottom pulley. This will give you access to the seal. I would imagine the nut on the end of the crank will be a PITA to get off. I had the local garage do ...
Hi Mikey, Ive fitted the 3" kit to my Terrano. See photos http://www.offroadexpress.co.nz/modules.php?set_albumName=terrano-owner-photos&op=modload&name=Gallery&file=index&include=view_album.php If you are going to get it certified, check with them to see if they need the UCA's crack tested. If yes ...
Thanks Paul,
It's taken awhile to get it how I want, and of course there's still more to do, bullbars, sliders, winch. But they are long term projects and it is more than enough for the club trips I do.
Cheers
Allan
Hi Paulie, Are you doing suspension or body lift? Suspension lift will require new shocks starting at $100 each, and new springs for the rear, around $250 for a pair. The front end is lifted by winding up the Torsion Bars. Depending on how high you go you will also want to look at a Panhard Rod drop ...
Hi Madterrano, I have installed a steering damper on my T. On the inside of the left hand chassis rail are two threaded holes, just forward of the idler arm. The bracket bolts on to these. I ordered my bracket through Cockrams here in ChCh, so your local Nissan dealer should be able to get one too ...
Hate it when that happens. I had a similar problem when I did the radius arm bushes as there was 2 sizes available. Of course they sent out the wrong size the first time around
Hi Paulie,
The newer model Terrano has no separate chassis, so they are more like a car than a truck. The only lift option is to raise the suspension. Probably better on-road, but personally I think the lack of a seperate chassis limits their off-road potential
Hi Ahneed, I too have a Terrano, you asked for some of the "Quirks" of this model. Steering components are their major weak link. Expect to do tierod ends, idler arm, balljoints, centre links if you go offroading in it, and/or fit larger tyres. Still a great entry level 4x4, and as the others have ...
I have just installed a 3" Calmini lift kit on my Terrano and am very pleased with the results. Craig at Genie 4x4 hooked me up with the kit. The kit consists of new UCA's, Torsion bars, shocks, and Ball joints for the front, and at the rear, longer springs, shocks and a bracket to lower the panhard ...
Hi Pete, I have done both of mine, and it isn't too hard to do, just time consuming getting all the bits off to get the half shaft out. If you want I could give you a hand this weekend on either Sunday or Monday. I will check back here and give you a call if that suits you. Make sure you get the ...
Hi Toyota - ites
Met a dude from the US while I was over at Franz.
He gave me his card with a website address that might be of interest to you cruiser guys.
http://www.cruiserland.com lots of pics of modified Cruisers, etc
Thanks for the info. I had a look underneath and deduced that that was the case. I have read on other sites that AutoCustomisers are a bit dodgy, and there is also the frieght, duty etc when ordering from the US, so I will just stay with the raised torsion bar setup I am running now. I already have a ...
Hi all, Had a great trip into Station Creek over the new year, however did a wee bit of damage. Mainly the front RHS outer CV joint, which is now missing a big bit of the inner part of the joint. Where is the best (ie cheapest ) place to get a new one from here in ChCh? What is the go for getting ...
Sounds like an interesting concept. I have a Terrano, would it be possible to do the "Flip" on my front end? Could you explain what is involved, as I haven't heard of anyone doing this at all. What would be the possible side efffects, eg unstable road manners, etc.
How does the URL button, on the toolbar above, work? I somehow managed to insert one on my last post, but it was more by good luck than good management. (CV boots replaced on toolshed) I must've clicked the button too many times as there is a whole bunch of URL icons at the bottom of my post? Sorry ...
I got mine from Butlers on Stanmore rd ChCh for $20, and they lent me the cone to install it. Same price as I paid for the inner boot. As I said I have installed new boots on the inners and RHS outer joints, and by far the DuraBoot was the easier of them. I don't think that I could've done the outer ...
When I did the inner boots last month I put a small hole in the outer boot on the RHS reinstalling the axle. Hoped that it would last, but alas no such luck. Started spraying grease up the inside of the wheel well. So there I was underneath again on the weekend changing out the outer boot. I used ...
No you don't need to compress the springs. When I changed the shocks on my '95 I jacked up the rear of the vehicle until the wheels were off the ground. Put my axle stands under the chassis, then used the jack to hold the axle while I undid the lower bolt. Once the nut was off lowered/raised the ...
There was an add for the above fun run in our local rag last week. If you are interested, meet at Brooksdale Station, SH73, west of Springfield at 10am, Sunday 22 May. Cost is $30 per vehicle. They are going to lake Rubicon, Booksdale, and Benmore Stations by the look of the add. These fun runs are ...
I nearly always do my own repairs. Sometimes I need to seek professional advice on diagnosing the problem, but will give most things a go. If the job involves being double jointed to reach the part through all of the crap in the engine bay then it goes to someone else who is being paid to lose the ...
