A short update

Hi all, Just a quick update. Still waiting on the adapter plate which will be January now. I've also sourced a set of rock crawler gears as the transfer case is out seems like a good opportunity. The old motor has been sold now, so there's a big hole waiting for the V8 to go in. I've also decided on ...

Thanks for the advice on the cooling guys, I'll check out those fans although I've already got the ones I intend to use. They're working brilliantly on a mate's Holden 3.8 V6 conversion and even run under water!!

Hey thanks for the offer but I've already got the ones I intend to use. Still waiting for my adaptor plate to be made up though but the engineers are very busy!! Also playing with the air con pump to see if I can convert it to run an air tank for a rear locker. It'll be all go once I get my gearbox ...

No, I'm going to use the exisiting cooling system and add in a second electric fan...well that's the plan at this stage anyway!

Also going to see if I can use the AC pump on the new motor to run an air tank for a rear locker....anyone know if that's possible?

We'll see!!

As for being only 4l.....what can I say...fuel economy, power, weight!!!

Anyone else done this conversion? I'm keen to see any pitfalls before I fall into them!!

Thanks, Dave

Well I've taken the plunge and bought the 1UZFE motor and auto box, complete with computer and air flow meter. I've found a guy who can make up an adaptor plate between the back of the gerabox and the transfer case, so I'm taking them over to him to start work on that. I'll keep you posted on ...

Hi Sam, Ah yes, hadn't got as far a thinking about what to do with the current motor!! The odometer reads 278,000 odd but have no idea if its accurate! The motor runs very well but I haven't made a final decision about converting yet. All this came up because I heard about the Holden V8 being ...

Thanks for the info, very useful to know and I've checked out their website. Has anyone else done the Holden or Lexus V8 conversion for a 70 series cruiser that can add anything? Thanks. Dave

Our dog is called buzz!! No rovers here!! Basically I'm after any opionions/advice I can get! I know of a 2002 Holden 5.7 motor that I can get for $3500. Its complete with auto gearbox but without a wiring loom but have got hold of an auto electirian who reckons he can wire it. I can get the ...

FJ 70 Cruiser V8 conversion

I've got an '86 FJ70 swb with the 3F motor and am looking at a V8 conversion. The Holden 5.7L V8 looks good - anyone done anything like it before? I've also heard that the Lexus V8 would slip in nicely and has similar power. Anyone got any experience or view on that please? All other experiences ...

This sounds just what I need - I'm used to having a diesel unit which runs happily underwater - I love getting into rivers too much for my own good. How do I get hold of one of these kits please? As a back up thought - how much do you want for that 3FE engine? :D

Many thanks,

Dave

Electronic ignition for 3F engine

Anyone know if I can convert my 3F engine to electronic ignition or even if there is an EFI conversion available? Getting fed up with replacing points and would like to improve the "underwater capability". Thanks. Dave
