I tried another actuator and I can hear it doing something but no 4wd still.
How far should the pin be able to move just pushing on it?
I haven't pulled a transfer case apart before, is it a big deal?

surf 4wd actuator problem
ln65 hilux with ln130 surf box and transfer case. 4wd engagement just suddenly stopped working. Pulled the actuator off, pin moves ok but no response from the actuator motor. I've heard electric motor is a common problem. Whats the best fix? Try to find another one or can they be rebuilt? Any body ...
