@MihiT - thanks for the input. Turned out that the aux battery needed replacing as a cell had failed or something.

Problem with Redarc Battery Isolator / Secondary Battery

I have a secondary battery that lost it's charge. While investigating I noticed that the Redarc battery isolator was behaving unexpectedly. The isolator would briefly light up, then immediately turn off. The negative lead from the secondary battery, which leads directly from the negative terminal to ...

How to replace rear center seat belt on Nissan Safari?

Failed my WOF due to center rear seat belt needing replacing... anyone know how I get it out of the upholstery without destroying the seat? Bolt head seems to be in an inaccessible spot within the upholstery. Alternatively... any after market seat belt options I could fit that would be easy to ...

Re: Tying gear down to a Rhino-Rack Pioneer Tray

Cheers for the feedback guys - much appreciated. If I knew I could get the trade me or MCC option to fit the high roof without issue I think I'd go straight for one of those. Might just have to take a punt as will work out nearly $1k cheaper!

Re: Roof rack / brackets for high roof Nissan Safari

Cheers Taz. Unfortunately I haven't found anyone stocking them in Chch yet. I get the impression they're all shipped down from Auckland to order. But good to know that it shouldn't be too hard to adapt one. Might just buy one then try and get the adaption done once committed - should provide the ...

Re: Tying gear down to a Rhino-Rack Pioneer Tray

Reply from Rhino-Rack... The Pioneer series, be it Platform, Tradie or Tray as you are contemplating, have the location slots to enable fitment of eyes, ratchets, tyre straps or what ever you want. It's designed to be usable for all people's needs with the addition of chosen accessories. The side ...

Re: Roof rack / brackets for high roof Nissan Safari

Back on a search again. Apparently they don't have brackets after all ready to go.

I wonder if I can Rhino-Rack 280mm legs and adapt the fitting to the non-Rhino-Rack trays available. The 280mm seem to be the right height for my truck.

Re: Tying gear down to a Rhino-Rack Pioneer Tray

I've flicked off a support request to Rhino-Racks themselves asking about it, but waiting on a reply. Will also pop into Fully Equipped and see if they have any lying around (never see them on display). So I can poke and prod a bit to see what I think. Was thinking the Pioneer Trays might be a bit ...

Anyone had any direct experience at making their own biodiesel from old used vegetable oil? Any adverse effects I should perhaps watch out for - particularly on my 1992 Nissan Safari? Re: Ajusting the fuel pump - easy to do?

You don't need to alter the screw much at all, be carefull, try 1/8 of a turn at a time, and remember, winding it IN gives more fuel. Thanks Dak - much appreciated. Figured I'd do a small increment a day to see what difference it makes. Thanks again everyone for all your help - legends! Always ...

Ajusting the fuel pump - easy to do?

Recently took my 92 Safari (4.2 manual diesel) in for a WOF and was asked if it blew a bit of black smoke and if I'd like them to look at the fuel pump. Re: Smokey Exhaust - Why? And how to minimise?

Just thought, had engine problems about a month back - some fuel filter was getting clogged. Apparently there's also a second fuel filter a little deeper in the system that the mechanic informed me he bent some wire to reach in and hook it out as it's not really needed(?). I guess more fuel might be ...
