hey mate thanks for the reply, i am located in massterton, sounds like an easy swap to me, i had a slight suspision that i would have to change the bell housing to get it to fit the 3y.

im after a 5 speed 4x4 gearbox to replace the 4 speed out of my yn65 hilux, iv been told that the gearboxes out of the petrol hilux surfs around that year are a straight swap so im gonna go with one of them.

its got the standard 3y gearbox in it if thats what its called, im willing to keep it in aslong as it will handle the power of the new motor (supercharged 3sge). it wont be running max power all time just when i need it while 4x4ing.

hey all i have an 85 hilux yn65, i am doing an engine transplant and it currently has a 4 speed gearbox in it and i was wondering what it would take to put a 5 speed in, is it just a case of unbolting the old box and bolting in the new one? or will i have to lengthen/shorten the drive shafts, make ...

im gonna stay away from the thursty 6 cylinders, iv started putting in a 3sge that im going to supercharge just to be different, and i can turn the power on and off as i please.

all good now i have sussed out what im going to do
