I have got Toyota low mount winch parts from Toyota. It might be useful to ask your local Toyota dealer. Sometimes the parts are in NZ and are available overnight.

Re: cooling a lexus v8 in a hilux

Tows good like this, there is not a huge amount of weight on the drawbar. We experimented once, and only once, with moving the Hilux back a bit. Towing out of Rotorua going to Whangarei Winch Challenge, we decided to move the Hilux back about 6" because we thought there might be too much weight on ...

Run the factory hydraulic fan. We used a Toyota Cressida diesel radiator in this.

We fixed the overheating problems in a couple of other Lexus powered trucks for people by fitting the hydraulic fan.

Having helped in doing this, there are no bolts and there are more that six spot welds. A big grinder is your friend for this job.

Re: AISIN WINCH

What ever you do don't flick the winch from in to out, or vise versa, without letting the motor stop fully, otherwise you will break the input shaft. Ask me how I know? Good news is any parts required are available from Toyota. Based on the free spool lever this is a later model one.

Re: High tensile chassis

Recently I heard third hand, so I can't swear it as fact, of a Hilux high tensile chassis that was drilled for air bags, to help the leaf springs, by a suspension shop. When it went for it's next WOF the WOF guy refused to put a WOF on it. The owner appealled to NZTA and they agreed with the WOF guy ...

Re: Runva Tough Truck Rotorua Challenge 2011

I thought this was sorted out on page 3 From a competitors point of view: A track with some tyre marks up it is better than one without any tyre marks, especially for the first couple of trucks. It is generally accepted that driving/walking a track before hand gives you preconceived notions of what ...

I brought the good quality version of the size I needed from TopmaQ http://www.topmaq.co.nz/product_detail.aspx?id=MEBE12550 . I also brought their slippers. In my opinion the slippers make the difference. About $240 delivered (1x die & 2x slippers), best thing I ever did for pipe bending.

But seriously let me know what you drink, since you did the work, and I'll give you a box at Norwest.
