Re: What motor to put in my MK

Add a snorkle and 2.5 - 3 inch exhaust with headers to an SD33T, this will give you all the grunt you need (for off road anyway). If more serious could add intercooler then wind out fuel screw in injector pump (to let more fuel in to compensate for the increase in lad from the intercooler). Thanks ...

Re: Eastern Bay Hilux thieves operating again

well, I'll be the 1st, thanks for the heads up, have found there is a bit of a cycle, they hit up there, and in a couple of months they hit Gissy then after a couple more they're here in Napier, then back up to Tauranga and the cycle continues. Oh..you can't shoot the offender as they're the ones ...

Re: What motor to put in my MK

Have decided to keep the SD33T (they are bulletproof after-all) however will need to give it a overhaul. Any contacts in Napier/Hastings that barter?
Also, has anyone put in an aftermarket turbo on one that has increased but stayed within the tolerances of the SD33?

What motor to put in my MK

Going to remove my SD33T and am trying to find out what would be the best petrol engine to put in (with the least amount of mods). Would love to be able to slot in a small block V8 (love the sound) but open to suggestions. Keep in mind a couple of things, 1st is that am new to all this stuff so when ...

07-08 Ford Ranger/Mazda Utes

Don't know where I should post this so here is a start. Just a heads up for anyone that has one of these, I've had a few (3 in one day) come into work complaining about battery dying. Did a test on it and have found that the alternator is failing. Vehicle starts and with no load the alternator is ...

Re: MK Safari Build

Umm, may of had something to do with a leaking patched up sunroof that directed water to a hose that was MEANT to direct it down the pillar, shame the hose was melted and it all came out up there and the 12mm depth of bog stopped it going any further. All fun, by the end of it will know her inside ...

Re: Batteries explained for the layman

I hearing things like the sealed cal/cal batteries just tossing in the towel with little or no warning? Be interesting to hear others thoughts on it. You'll find that most automotive batteries either open top or sealed are cal/cal, internals are the same, just the case/cost different. Sealed ones ...

Strange finds

Just wondering if anyone has had any strange finds when stripping their Nissans. Had pulled off the dash to fix some wiring and pulled out the carpet to put down some sound insulation and had found japanese coins hidden throughout, some taped to the floor, others wedged into crevices. Obviously done ...

Re: VIOLENT SHAKING OF STEERING WHEEL PT2

Yep, got that tip from a brake and clutch guy, apparently a really big hammer isn't the way to go First piston wasn't hard at all, 2nd though that was a b$#ch. Ended up having to use a steel plate across the entire piston lip to spread the load evenly. Was only a single piston, god, can't wait to do ...

Thought of doing that but would prefer to get a hands on with others within ORE that understand the power of alcohol Apart from that, talking with others in person that are showing me things from ORE will either know of/understand/done things I want to do. Either that or they'll think I'm completely ...

Welder wanted Napier/Hastings to teach me

Looking for someone qualified in the Napier/Hastings area that would be able to spare an hour or so to give me a soldiers five on the basics in welding (mig and arc-though don't know much about either). Thanks for that Rangimotors, will be doing all that in the next couple of weeks when I'm on hols..main reason for taking time off is to work on her. As per another post, was unable to change my tie-rod ends however did change over the brake pads. One piston was stuck out and took a bit of "persuasion" to get it working again. After fixing it and the brake pads, put everything together and went for a test drive..NO SHAKING Slight pull to the left ...

A winch is effectively a big starter and as such needs starting batteries. Running a winch off a deep cycle will serverly shorten it's life span.
