1996 Terrano TD27eti Code 34
Hi, I’ve got fault code 34 showing on my 1996 Terrano TD27eti diesel, which I understand is the Needle Lift sensor or circuit. If you clear the codes, it comes back immediately. How do I test the sensor before I look for a replacement injector? The two terminals in the plug by the number 1 injector, ...

Re: 1994 mistral R20 rear drum brake problem
I've got a pr50 terrano that always does this. Never worked out what the issue is, however I try to remember to use the handbrake only to do some hard stops before the wof test and find it gives a perfect balance. First time it happened was 15 years ago when I first got it, spent the whole day ...

Re: 1996 terrano TD27eti Valve clearance
ok, job done. Motor is pretty low mileage, had it now for 15 years, starts good, good power, and no blow by. I’ve run 2 of these over the last 25 years and this is the first time I’ve touched anything, and now I’ve done the job, it didn’t even really need doing...tappets were all consistent and only n ...

Re: 1996 terrano TD27eti Valve clearance
Thanks, never thought to take pump sprocket cover off. One thing that surprised me is how easy the engine is to turn over. Fairly big bar on it though, but thought I would see where the notch was on the pulley for the compressions, but you can hardly feel them. Should I be concerned? Yes it does ...

1996 terrano TD27eti Valve clearance
Hi, just about to adjust tappets on the old terrano. Could someone please tell me what the clearances (hot) should be? Also having a bit of a head scratch as to where the TDC marks are. I’ve found a notch in the crankshaft pulley but the matching marks on the motor are not that clear. There is a b ...

Re: TD27eti Injector pump
Just thought I would post back. I never had the codes read. It has now been a couple of months or more since I added 2 stroke oil. It isn’t doing it at all now, and I’ve done nothing else, except run a little 2 stroke oil in with the diesel. Could be complete co incidence but if anyone else if hav ...

Re: TD27eti Injector pump
Yeah, it wouldn't be fair to sell. It is interesting that it had got really difficult to drive around town, and virtually after about 10 km of sticking oil in it, it was a clear cut transformation.

Re: TD27eti Injector pump
I just thought I would try one last thing before I removed the pump. I put some 2 stroke oil in the tank, about 200 ml in half a tank. Not sure if it is co incidence but near the end of the tank the stutter / surge disappeared almost completely. I’ve done a second full tank, and have noticed no s ...

The way I read the post, he has already done the deal on the vehicle, and wants to make sure it runs ok. The chances are it will be fine. Make sure you take all precautions outlined above to make sure it does not hydraulic. They make a real and serious caution! Hopefully it did not run upside down ...

Re: R50 rear window hatch no workie
Old thread I know, but thought I might update just incase someone else comes across similar problem. I ended up giving up sorting my problem. Found it easier to just leave the window ajar, so it was always ready to open by just lifting it up, however about 6 months ago I replaced the battery and ...

Re: TD27eti Injector pump

Really looking for a shorter term solution that keeps it running / driving nice and something that I will not feel uncomfortable selling to someone else. Not concerned about fitting a throttle cable. Is ...

TD27eti Injector pump
I have a really tidy 1996 Automatic Nissan Terrano, 155,000km that I’ve had since 2000. I’ve started to get the dreaded idle surges and light throttle stutters. Not sure what to do, local diesel injector specialists are talking minimum of recondition of Injector pump, and injectors, and I doubt the ...

Re: R50 rear window hatch no workie
Yeah, Will probably quickest and easier to run another wire, but will have a go looking for problem first. Truck still full of tools and stuff at the moment, so have to empty it to lift carpet / seats etc to look where the looms runs. Assume it will run on inside rather than underneath? Wondering if ...

R50 rear window hatch no workie
Is there a common fault for hatch not working? It does not work on remote or switch on dash. I've located the loom plug back left inside body where the taildoor loom plugs together. I placed a wire from the dash switch to the green wire on one plug (left rear) and this operates catch when touched to ...

All sorted now. I used that Chinese link, and got a really helpful lady on the other end, that spent the time to find the right one for me, so I’m going with that. Will be about $140 NZ at my place. Feel bad for not supporting local business, but Repco was $391, super cheap was $388, so what else do ...

Re: TD27 (R50) water pump
Still trying sort sort a cost effective option, short of importing from overseas. I found a suitable cheap pump with the wrong viscous fan hub on it. (135mm fan bolt spacing instead of nearly 145mm) Maybe I can change hub over. Just wondering how the viscious hub is held on. Is it a press fit ...

Re: TD27 (R50) water pump
Thanks Travis. I got a reply back from the trader and he says he isn’t certain that the pump will fit. It’s a cheap pump anyway, so I can’t be certain of its quality. Re: TD27 (R50) water pump
Finally have confirmed water pump! Just couldn’t see it with light and mirror. There was no tell tale stain either. Worked it out by pushing a tissue in between the pulley and housing. Re: TD27 (R50) water pump
Thanks Dan, Travis and mudbugga. I still have not confirmed the leak yet. Just found a better mirror to look with, but now it does not want to leak, so maybe this confirms it definitely is the pump! no, I have an orange colored antifreeze, and I don’t think it is so obvious to see. Re: TD27 (R50) water pump
Was that $120 each, or did you get 2 for $120? Who was the supplier? doesn't seem to be leaking today while I have been looking. Maybe this suggests the seal, because all the other joints would leak consistently right? I can't see drain hole under pump, maybe hidden by pulley which is close to ...

This one seems cheap… is it too cheap or will it be ok? Suppose to have one year warranty. Others seem to be around $300.
Mine has approx 2 mm clearance around the pulley edge to the housing. Is this the same as the no clearance one described?

TD27 (R50) water pump
Starting to lose coolant occasionally. I have water stains running down the front of the sump. There is what appears to be a thin cover behind the crankshaft pulley, and it has some sort of a rubber dust seal around the bottom of this cover. It appears wet here. I haven’t found a mirror and light y ...

My back doors top frames flex a lot causing the top of the door to cause noise as they shake against the body. the screws would only snap upon removal attempt right? Most of the feedback I found related to the small screws, but this doesn't bother me, as it is something that I could sort easily. I well greased the little screws. Fingers crossed they give me a good run. I got them for not much more than ...

I think I'm all sorted now. I ended up loosing the flange down under it to get some movement. Haven't test run it yet, but fingers crossed the joints won't leak.
Easy enough job, but getting arms and hands in there I found difficult.

R50 EGR valve 2.7 turbo diesel
I went to add a blank off plate to the base of the EGR valve as described by the other thread. The EGR valve is on the inside rear of the intake manifold, and there isn't a lot of room there to get your hands on it. I tried levering it with reasonable force but still can't get it back far enough. It ...
