Re: Suzuki Escudo for Sale - Sold

An era is over.

Time now to ponder the next move but in the meantime will keep getting muddy on 2 wheels with 2 legged power.

Re: Suzuki Escudo for Sale

No immediate replacement.
Have not been using it much recently - out on the mountain bike instead.
However will be looking for something a bit bigger - more suitable for touring - in the future.

Re: firestone destination mt

The March 09 NZ4WD magazine had a field test of the Firestone Destination A/T. They were fitted to the Suzukis at Extreme 4WD park and apparently went well. Part of the article is online at http://www.nz4wd.co.nz/afa.asp?idWebPage=13579&idAdrenalin_Articles=873&SID=648843502

Re: NZ 4wd Track Database

This is looking good Mike, although I am struggling to see both start and end points for the tracks.
Is there an intention to add the full path?
A track site I find really good (albeit for mountain biking ) is http://tracks.org.nz/
This organises the tracks by area and gives a path for each.

Re: Firewood Loop Akatarawa Forest

I saw this trip advertised and wondered where the Firewood Loop was. I checked with Reece, received the warnings on possible damage but still decided to go and see for myself. My little Escudo will always struggle when the ruts get deep and the bogs get deeper but with a lot of help from Mark (and ...

Re: Places to go in wellington??

As far as I am aware there are only a couple of public areas for 4wding in the Wellington area. These are Red Rocks on the South coast (except for Sundays when the gate is closed) and Odlins Road - which heads north from the Akatarawa Saddle on the road from Waikanae to Upper Hutt. All other areas ...

This is a picture of the washout before the summit on Odlins Road. http://i475.photobucket.com/albums/rr120/graemeca/DSC00886Small.jpg This was taken on the 25th October. We also encountered a big slip a few km's down the hill on the way to the hut. It was not possible to get past this slip.

I left early when I found I could not get up hills that I felt I should get up.
Appears I have broken one of my auto hubs so will have to fix that before next time.

When I discovered I had an LSD in my Escudo , I asked the same question. I was told that there was no specific model that had them, it really was pot luck. Mine is in a Goldwin (93) but my brothers Goldwin (95) does not have one. One was advertised on Trademe recently (I think there was an earlier ...

How could mere words add to the record shown by your photos?

Thanks for organising this trip.

This was a great trip with lots of variety and challenge - all on the one great property - Terawhiti. While very dry we still found challenge in steep hills (thanks for getting me up the last 3 metres Marty.) , ruts and bogs (Why were some people pulled out of the same bog up to 5 times?) . I look ...
