Re: B.J. And The Bear (70 Series)

I'll be mating the 1HDT to the H55F gearbox. I have a 1HZ bellhousing from OZ, and a new 1HDT flywheel and 300mm / 21 spline HD clutch from NZ. Just need to make the input shaft fit. Possibly will add a spacer plate between the gearbox and bellhousing, or bellhousing and motor. Depending on where ...

Re: B.J. And The Bear (70 Series)

Been too cold to get stuck into the bodywork and do some painting...SO something else popped up that I couldn't resist.

Out with the old donkey and in with the new, fully rebuilt 1HDT.

Re: B.J. And The Bear (70 Series)

Now for the life of me, I had all sorts of trouble bleeding the rear brakes. I even ending up replacing the LPV.

But you wouldn't guess what the issue was. See if you can spot it in the photo...

Re: B.J. And The Bear (70 Series)

Well bugger me, I have been rather slack. Was hanging out in IH8MUD for a but. But yeah, plenty on the go..... So what have I done...? Well I've been wading around in pools of grease and oil. Well it seems like it anyway. After rebuilding the rear, the front was next on the list.....Nice and shiny ...

Re: B.J. And The Bear (70 Series)

Righto, now for a front end refurb. There is a fair bit of diff oil that's been leaking and upon draining the diff also a bit of water. Oil level was also low. Leaking out from the hubs and swivel housing, so looks like a rebuild. If anyone has any seal kits knocking around, let me know. Will pull ...

BJ7x Drum Brake Operation

So, teach me something..... I recently rebuilt the rear drum brakes on a BJ73 and was curious how the automatic adjuster works when operating the hand brake. It looks like the automatic adjuster operates everything the handbrake is pulled, but surely once it gets to a point it stops adjusting so the ...

Re: Terrano not engaging front drive shaft

Gees, that brings back memories. The old Terrano eh. CV snapping, idler bending beast. Yeah if you're not careful it's easy to break things in the front end. You've probably solved it by now, but if you haven't and have already replaced most of the drive line in the front, then have you dropped the ...

Re: B.J. And The Bear (70 Series)

Ok, so time to get serious on this project. Starting with a full inspection of the good, the bad and to horrific. Thankfully nothing too horrific that can't be easily fixed. Mainly rust, but that's fairly easy to cut out and replace. One thing I definitely cannot fix is the rooted FRP canopy window ...

Right, so a couple of things ticked off today. The starter motor...bought a brand new one probably 9 months ago and so finally put it in.
