Seriously?
Even though Thompson's is a public road does not guarantee that it is passable, in fact i guarantee that a standard road 4wd will not make it from Te Aroha to Kati.
There are many tracks off to the side of the main track that 'everyone uses' has anyone ever been 'done' for going on them?

if the seals go in your master cylinder you could get a similar result i guess..
I think the 'clang' you hear is likely telling you something. I would double check everything under there for something loose, have you checked the rear brake system?

Hi mate, bit of a long shot, but my mates hilux had this issue. Check the wheel bearings.. my mate destroyed the outer one on one wheel completely (when replacing there was nothing left that looked like a bearing ) basically the disk was able to tilt enough to spread the calipers hence the first ...

Hankook RT03's best tires ive ever used on the road truck (even though they are muds) out lasts normal road tires, can deal with mud and minimal if any road noise...

As mudlva said, great trip, but then any trip you can drive back out in one peice is a good trip!

) 2wd all the way... was good day though recovered 2 bikes, one had fallen off 20m bank on kati side (lucky bugger walked out with only a bruised shoulder!)

27splines on the dhaft. I have looked at taking them apart, but have no idea how to even get them apart let alone service them! On the basis good reviews on auto hubs are so few and far between i am going to go for manuals.. 4x4 prob wont be used much on this one but when it is it will be needed ...

Not much spare time for the beast so far... Small welding job on the standard diff breather to allow hose to connect for extender breather. Fitted snorkle (much overdue task) i see why i was putting it off, 40series firewalls are not the easiest to cut a 89mm hole through! Fixed up the unused holes ...
